Surely not? The media would you have you believe that teens today are 10x worse than the lovely children from your time?
Yes there are significant reporting differences between now and then. We live in the health and safety era, with 'safe zone' and 'hate speech' etc But on a purely local basis, Hull seems much less lively now than it was then albeit with more varied/sophisticated entertainment. The buses into town on Fri/Sat nights were rammed. You don't seem to see this now.
The majority are better behaved in my opinion. But the good kids never make the news. Though those that are little ****s ARE worse then we was. Some have no fear, respect or morals for anyone or anything.
From my own experience I was out in Hull every other night during 2007-2010. I loved it. Our favourite club like places were Pozition, Sugar Mill, Welly and Pipers. All the pubs down cott road, bev road, newland ave and round old town were frequented beforehand regularly. Saturday football was often watched in Gardners and then to Asylum at the uni for afters. I absolutely loved it. No doubt different from previous years and not so much about different groups of people, most people wear similar stuff now and conflict is generally avoided.
Most of that before my time, but you're right I don't see any type of gangs/tribes anymore Music & clothes tastes were always linked, but now most young people look like most young people and if my kids musical tastes are anything to go by they are unbelievably eclectic. Couldn't guess what they wore if you knew what music they listened to (mind you you couldn't tell how old they are either!)
Curved Air were on at Hull Student Union in 1975 (or mebbe '76) I was working a part time job behind the bar there at the time, being the youngest I was given the task of supplying the band with trays of drinks while they were warming up and changing etc. Got to see them for free but the highlight was a kiss from Sonja Kristina just before they went onstage, no tongues or exchange of saliva but, a kiss none the less.

I hear you Filey, but along with goth's there are also a few other types such as emo's and moshers, you're obviously just not down with the kids enough pal

I am stuck in a time warp LBIA. My step daughter was a goth. I took her to see Bad Manners...she.wasn't impressed.
I know Buster, he used to come to my office regularly (I used to kit out the band), he's a lovely bloke.
He sure is..He has or had lost a load of weight. Love Bad Manners Dancing to the Can Can on scooter rallys As last song of the night with 3 or 400 pissed up scooterists Great times..
It's been years since I last saw him, but he'd just about halved his weight the last time I saw him, he still wore the same leather jacket he always wore, it looked like it was on a coat hanger.
I saw the big version..next time I saw the skinny version I thought he looked ill but he was jumping about as much as ever.
I remember him bitd on TOTP and he seemed a massive fat ****. Saw some old TOTP repeat a couple of months back, he almost seemed what passes for normal now.
