It seems all staff at PAFC have been told to shut their Offices etc between 2pm & 3pm to be informed about a club announcement....the Press and TV will be present during the afternoon.

    So what's going on ?.

    1.....New players being introduced ?

    2.....Grandstand revamp ?

    3.....Buy out ? (I doubt that).

    4.....Directors/Management changes ?

    5.....Catering improvements ? (very unlikely).

    6.....Ticketing improvements ? (never).

7.....Looking for an army DIY freebies to smarten the place up ?...(free black bags available).

8.....Ground share with Torquay or Albion ? (always possible).

    Any more ideas anyone ?

Refinancing to pave the way for the grandstand:

    http://www.pafc.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/board-statement-stadium-development-3503358.aspx

Brent, Wrathall and Hallet convert their existing £2.1 m loans to the club into equity i.e. they will not receive any cash and lose any future right to repayment.

A further £965k of equity will be injected into the club as cash.

Hallet and his wife will lend the club £4.1m to fund the new grandstand, presumably secured on it, to be repaid over 30 years.

What we need to know is how much grandstand does this give us......and what comes under the umbrella of refurbishment.

We'll have to wait until the spring to see something concrete on paper regarding layout .....and what about that terrible Mayflower desolate standing area ?

What exactly does the following actually mean.

    Brent........50.1%
    Hallett......41.9%
    Holliday.....5.1%
    Wrathall.....2.9%

How much of PAFC these directors own ?

Why couldn't Brent put some new money in so we could build a NEW grandstand....is he that poor ?

Re-vamping an ageing decaying monster is personally a waste of money......meaning you couldn't afford to knock it down in the next 20/30 years.

I don't understand all the excitement over on pasoti...short sited disaster...poor thinking....no foreward planning for the future.

I saw this announcement on the beeb local news. I didn't have to say anything as the news reader pointed out Brent had announced a new Grandstand in 2012, 2013, 2014.......oh yes 2015 and of course he did 2016. However this does look as if something is going to happen as Brent is not having to pay. Hallett talks about a cheap deal without profit and is puting in the cash for the love of the City and club. What nobody has said that I have heard anyway is what exactly this new Grandstand will look like, how big it is etc etc. Here comes the "it will be too small and we will be stuck with it" argument all over again.

I was asked by a Liverpool supporter on their forum last night if we would have chosen an away game or home game for the one coming up. He thinks the lower league clubs should be given a choice however the draw comes out. I had to say an away game purely on the basis of how much money it will generate. We can only get about 16000 in our ground and even at £20 a chuck for tickets that would not generate anywhere near the case their 54000 at £15 will. Reason we only have 16000 is that part of our ground is unusable. How poor is that. My view on this Grandstand thing is we are going to get whatever Brent and Hallett think we should have and not what the supporters think we should have. Our wishes are never going to materialise so just get on and build the fecking thing. I'm fed up of all the poncing about. I no longer care who owns what at Argyle. It's all a distraction and as long as we get the team investment and don't bugger up the promotion again then that will do.

I think you will find that is the whole idea. Spend £5million for a major refurb (which I understand is considerably more than revamping the existing stand) now and whilst it is still structurally possible to do so, or let it fall down/be closed down by H&S in the next 5 years. In the absence of £14-18million to knock it down and start again it seems a pretty good compromise. More importantly, it is planned to be financed by the existing owners meaning the future of the club is not placed at risk by borrowing huge amounts that the club cannot sustain. I sincerely hope Mr Hallett lives for 30 years to see his loan repaid- he is clearly making the loan as an altruistic gesture rather than trying to make a quick buck. If it can be tarted up to last 20-30 years then the horseshoe will also be 40-50 years old and it will probably be time to build a new stadium from scratch, though I doubt many of us will be around to worry about it by then!

In essence there will be approx £7million argyle shares in existence (completely separate from the £5million loan) so you might argue that JB already has £3.5million invested in the club. Hallett will have £2.8million plus his £5mill loan, Holliday £350K and TW £210k. All very ball park figures, but if you or I wanted to buy JB out it would cost £3.5Million + whatever profit he wants to add on...

The key thing for me is that something is done with the derelict Mayflower stand area: it's an eyesore and an embarrassment.

First club to install a safe standing area? Cheaper tickets for those that want them and a bigger boost to capacity than seats could provide.

PAFC have been taking note of Celtics move into that area I believe.

At the moment the proposed refurbishment is short on facts.....you just as well ask how long a bit of string is ?.......no idea what seating capacity is planned....will the disgraceful Mayflower standing area be included and if so roofed......the behind the scenes development surely needs a supporters bar....such a lucrative money winner that others at the moment profit from. Planning permission of course will be needed....but I don't see that a problem.....it is a lesser development than the previous accepted plans.

We just need to know what is intended.....they know the budget available....so they must have a rough idea how far it will stretch.....and the proposed interaction with fans needs clarifying.....it all depends what sought of fans are "fans" in the minds of PAFC....how independant will these "fans" be from the ruling managements idea of the ideal supporter.....now that could be a problem.....some will expect that... that will not stretch beyond the " bucket rattling brigade"......I am not sure that we will get the best Grandstand the majority would be happy with.....and once built it will be there for quite a few years....20/30 possibly.....and as Lindy as already mentioned that would mean that the "horseshoe" development will then be 50 odd years old itself.....and the problem then will be the WHOLE lot will need renewing.....possibly moving away from the restrictions of the present ground would be a better option....."The New Home Park" arena comes to mind.....but Lindy also said that most of us will be long gone by then....hopefully we will see Div One and maybe even Championship football again in the "Old Home Park".

Us older ones never knew anything other than yoyoing between tiers 2 and 3.....and never knew tier 4 until the 1990's....how the world has changed.

I am toying with the idea of throwing my hat in the ring to sit on the fans committee. Have just emailed the CEO to see how he sees it working. I suspect (but don't know) that it will be a vehicle for gathering ideas from the wider fanbase and discussing with the club-and then for letting the wider fanbase down gently when the ideas are not affordable.....
Ill let you know if I get a reply.

I'll pop down to Nigel's local (only 5 miles) and he'll get Trump to put in a good word for Lindy with our American based director....should be a doddle. Nige can also put a word in for Lindy on his new LBC Political Programme as well....it's good to have connections...he can sort out the ticketing as well.
