A little unfair. I doubt whether any of our current squad, apart from Smithies, would get into the Brighton team at the present time.

A much better (and soon to be premiership) team though. Can't see a problem with that.

Latest is we're being linked with the Hibernian striker Jason Cummings. Barnsley after him aswell,I quite like the look of this lad, only 21 and has scored 48 goals in 100 appearances for them. I think I'd rather take a chance on him, than bring in some old has been that only wants to see out his days with us and take the money. If Derby only paid 2.5 mill for Nugent, then they've had a right result. He's almost certain to score goals at this level, and I'm unhappy we didn't at least offer 3 mill for him, with the money we've got from selling Polter. The Lua Lua deal is a strange one for me,bringing in a winger who has been injured all season. Just how fit he's going to be is anyone's guess, and even when he has been fit his goals tally is worse than Hoilett's was ! I'd much rather Ollie would give Shodipo an extended run in the side, for his age I can't quite fathom what the kid has done wrong to be left out of an ailing side. To me he has been one of our bright sparks this season, and considering how Gladwin started infront of him Saturday, something is seriously ****ed up in our selection process. At least Gladwin has been packed off again, hopefully this time he doesn't return ! One last point is on Yeni. Ollie went public saying he needed to lose some weight, fair enough, but say it behind closed doors to the lad for Christ's sake. I rate this kid and he needs time, just after he joined us his father died. He flew home for 2 weeks and then came back,he never complained and he just got his head down and trained hard. He picked up and injury and has only recently got back into the fold. Now I remember when my old man passed away,i was only a little older than Yeni. I went right off the rails, and was pissed off my head for about 8 months solid. I didn't want to do anything except get smashed, sad I know but true. So in my eyes, the lad hasn't had any real mourning time. He's in a foreign country, trying to adapt to a different style of football he's ever seen before. So before we all call him useless and call for his head, let's cut him a bit of slack and hope he can get fit and get a proper run in the side. I'm telling you all, this guy is going to be a top player. Let's just hope it's with us !

Agree, nothing against the player & here's hoping he turns out good but I would have thought our ambition for a loanee would have been a Prem league squad player who's either out of favour or up & coming needs some first team experience.

Wasn't Jason Cummings the guy who attempted the Paneka penalty in a cup final against Dundee United and chipped it clean over the bar?

Hilarious, but on one level shows the kid is brimming with confidence - and if he has come through that and learned a lesson it's just water under the bridge.

I did look the result up.. Hibs won the game on pens with Cummings scoring the winning pen - shows he has something about him to have the balls to step up again...

    Super post <ok>

I have to admit I'm puzzled as to how Holloway is going around "man managing" the players. I fear potentially good players can get alienated and we won't get to see the best of them because they'll leave as soon as an offer comes around.

QPR get second opinion on Caulker and consider loan signing

Ian Holloway says QPR could look to sign a centre-back on loan after being told that Steven Caulker faces at least six more weeks on the sidelines.

Rangers sought a second opinion after a specialist suggested that Caulker have surgery on his hip.

Holloway says the club have now been informed that even without surgery the player is unlikely to return to action before March.

Manager Holloway, who has moved Grant Hall from centre-back to midfield, says he is therefore considering his options and could make a signing.

“We’ve sent him to a different specialist,” Holloway said.

“The last one wanted to cut him open and release a tendon in his hip. He couldn’t find what was wrong and the last resort was to release a tendon.

“We didn’t agree with it. We took him to someone else and now we’ve got a six-week plan.

“Hopefully it works for the boy because I tell you what: I’ve never seen anyone look so down.”

Tottenham youth product Caulker played for England in 2012 and was rated as one of the country’s best prospects.

But his career has been on a downward trajectory since, and Caulker, who turned 25 last month, has not played since October.

Holloway said: “Everything that Steven does is going wrong for him at the moment.

“We’ve got to support him and get him going again, because what a fantastic footballer he is in both boxes.

“We started the season with him and boy could I do with him now.

“If I’ve got to wait six weeks then do I bring someone else in? Because at the moment, absolute bare bones.

“I really am down to the bare bones, because we haven’t got any centre-backs in the Under-23s.”
