I haven't checked back but didn't the MP who got stitched-up by this go on to be some kind of government drug tsar or something? Edit - yeah he did: https://www.theguardian.com/society...-morris-and-cake-to-scrutinising-drugs-policy
The people of this great nation voted him 8th in the 100 Greatest Britons Of All Time in the BBC poll of 2002. It was a fairly bizarre list to be fair, Diana came above Darwin, Newton and Shakespeare.
I know a schizophrenic who genuinely put an add in a lonely hearts column, "schizophrenic, wishes to meet same, for foursome".
It works better with "2 faced? why'd you choose that one?" but you gotta take what you can, when you can and I am NOT sorry!
I once got high off some Nurofen. Well, felt quite warm for a few minutes and it cured by hangover headache, so I was quite euphoric at the time. I don't consume narcotics, though I do enjoy a drink (responsibly, obvs) but many of my friends enjoy taking MDMA of a Saturday night and indulge in lots of cringey hugging as a result. One of them has developed, what appears, to be a permanent twitch as a side effect of ****ing his brain up every weekend. Something's changed anyway. Hope it was worth it! Who doesn't enjoy watching someone chewing their own face off from the inside in a nightclub?? Just so long as it's not you eh. The real villains are those losers with massive metal pipes blowing sickly sweet steam everywhere. Hate those people. Bit of a cliche, but it's often suggested that some of the best music known to man has been produced by people off their drug-heads on whack. There's a plus point I suppose. But there's a difference between a musician in a studio making a great album and hoovering coke or whatever from a supermodel's rack and 'Tommo', sat in his bedsit on North Hull, scraping whatever white powder he can find off the curled up corners of an old copy of the Radio Times. Sometimes it sounds fun, sometimes it's just sad. Just have a cup of tea if in doubt.
At no point in this thread have I held an opinion about folk who use drink, drugs or tobacco; each to their own poison. I enjoy a drink, I am an ex-smoker, but have never been a social drug user. I know lots of active and ex-smokers, most of them would love to stop, if they have not yet done so. The one that always laughed and said it was his wish to smoke is now fighting cancer; 46 and not looking good for him. All of the drinkers I know like a drink, me included, but none are alcoholic and can take it or leave it. I do know quite a few drug users and it has destroyed the lives of quite a few of them. I have known two fortyish guys - they played football for me- who hung themselves because of the social problems drugs, and their cost, brought into their lives and those they loved. I think smoking is pointless, but strangely supportive. Drinking in moderation is socially acceptable and enjoyable. Drugs are socially cool, but they have a dark side and a seedy supply channel that makes them dangerous on a number of levels. I'm not particularly bothered who has used and abused drugs, it doesn't make them right or clever. But, if you want to use them crack on, the only thing I ask is that you don't push them, or glorify them to children.
'Muh personal anecdote of a bad experience with drugs means nobody else can take responsibility for what they put in their bodies.' Ny nana died from cancer last year but I don't want to ban smoking. Get a grip. And my comment regarding recreational drug use for kids was clearly a piss-take, but in the interest of things, my own recreational drug use is limited to nicotine and alcohol, for the most part.
Hell yeah it does. Dropped my first tab of acid after smoking a joint. Was fun I rate 10/10 would do it again.
It was a simple enough statement that you made; there was no hint of sarcasm or humour to it. If you are claiming it was a joke or poke st something, fine, but I fail to see what your point was. It comes across that your clear belief that the statement you made was a very obvious piss-take, indicates that you believe no one out there would subscribe to such a view. But, unfortunately you are wrong, very wrong. This board has a member who openly admits to having been introduced to drugs at a young age, at least 14yrs old, as memory serves. That was about 45 yrs ago. It is much worse these days, with drugs being used to groom children and entrap them in a life of horrific abuse. This isn't a figment of my imagination, it's a FACT. Polly called me sanctimonious because I picked up on your obnoxious post. Fair enough; if being sanctimonious is what it takes to challenge gratuitous comments, or deliberately inviting comments, that might influence young and impressionable young minds then I'll live with that.
What really makes me laugh about this forum is the puritanical moralism of a bunch of middle-aged men who otherwise take the piss out of millennials for being too sensitive and overly-offended. Have a word with yourself. > there was no hint of sarcasm or humour to it Well, that's probably because it's difficult to convey sarcasm or irony in text without any other human emotion signalling otherwise. It was a joke, in bad taste I admit, but I won't apologise for it. The irony was that in response to the old cliche 'don't do drugs, kids'. Of course, I don't encourage toddlers blowing a gram of coke up their nose ffs. Funny how nobody kicked up a fuss when the chant 'Stevie Bruce, he's having a party, bring your vodka, and your charlie' was ringing round the KC. No offence to most of you because you're otherwise alright people to chat to on football issues, but sometimes you behave like ****ing manchildren.
It's actually better to tell children the truth about drugs and prohibition has never worked and never will it creates an unregulated criminal market
Put your soap box away and stop spouting bollocks. This is what you do, why I don't know; just a reflection of your life, I suppose. It wasn't a joke, even though you believe it was, it wasn't ironic, nor was it in the least sarcastic; all it was is gratuitous crass. You really need to grow up.
