I don't understand it either, a cemetery is not a venue for entertainment or art, its a place to remember and respect those that have been lost.

In recent times, this particular cemetery has mainly been a place for junkies to jack up and a place for the homeless to sleep.

That this event will be an improvement, at least they're likely to tidy the bloody needles away for it.

Cemeteries are for the dead, not for junkies, the homeless or 'events'.
    Crazy, but true.

I thought you said Allardyce. Not a fan but him and a cemetery in the same sentence sounded appealing

No body has been buried in that cemetery for over 40 years and it mostly contains graves over 100 years old. If the circus was interrupting people grieving over the recently deceased I could understand but as it will bring attention to some notable memorials in what appears to be quite a tasteful way, I can only see it as a good thing. It's of no interest to me, I like creeping around graveyards when they're empty and quiet, but I would never consider moaning about it on Look North.

Not in all cultures. I think it looks great. As others have said, it's a historic burial ground, they aren't recent graves.

Once had dealings with a housing development where they found human remains when they started digging. It turned out that the occupants of a nearby and very old grave yard on a slight hill above had, over time drifted, and some had now 'escaped' into the adjacent land. They were told that when they they found remains, they had to stop work until it was reported and checked by the authorities to make sure it wasn't from elsewhere.

After that, they only ever seemed to find a lot of what to anyone passing by the jcb bucket, ended up looking like crushed chalk.

The dead are often ****ed around with, from raiding the pyramids to holding goth weekends in Whitby, mass exhumations needed to upgrade Castle Street, gravestones moved to improve Trinity Square etc

Look at the warrior kings unearthed at Pocklington, unceremoniously dug up and moved for some more characterless houses. Who's going to be offended on behalf of the Iron Age folk? What's the 'being outraged' cut off point?

    Urnbelievable.

I have dead relatives in cemeteries, I think a bit of circus swinging is not disrespectful and it doesn't offend me. Let's not be snowflakes about it.

I don't think the corpses will object.

Not sure it sounds good though.

If the corpses do object, it'll be one hell of a show.

The usual suspects getting their knickers in a twist over something that really doesn't concern them.

Poor little snowflakes crying over some dead people who they never knew and who died over 100 years ago not getting a good nights kip.

    Boo ****ing hoo.

I tell you if I'd been stuck in that cemetery for a century with nothing but bag heads and prossies for company I 'd be chuffed to **** to have a circus rocking up.

    Some folk are too precious.

I can feel some name changes pending. Dennis and Askew need to decide which of them is Burke and which Hare.

They've dug up and shifted tens of thousands of skeletons from old burial grounds in London, nobody seems that arsed, as long as the new tube station gets them to work a bit quicker and there's plenty of jobs in the new buildings.

My grandma happens to be in this cemetery (more accurately in the newer part next door) and she'd think it was brilliant that they're doing this.

Proper no nonsense woman was my grandma, always had a filterless Park Drive in her mouth, telling me to stop being a daft beggar.
