Artist Sir Howard Hodgkin has died at the age of 84. I saw some of his stuff at the Tate Modern once, to be honest, I thought they looked like a six year old had done them. please log in to view this image

One of my early heroes too. The only man to win World Championships on two wheels and four wheels. Along with Hailwood, Stirling Moss and Graham Hill motor racing was a more entertaining sport with more entertaining characters. And far more dangerous with the skill of the driver more important than the car than is the case nowadays.
Ed Whitlock - inspirational record breaking elderly runner, he was 86 and ran a 4 hour marathon last year. http://www.runnersworld.com/ed-whitlock/masters-marathon-legend-ed-whitlock-dies-at-86
A hero of mine too (along with Hailwood). Nice guy with it. Such a shame that the recent attempts to get him a knighthood were not successful. Multiple world champion on both 350s and 500s in addition to the F1 world title. Did some excellent work with the Henry Surtees foundation too.
Even legends have to go some time but, I'm still gutted - saw him at the NEC twentyodd years ago with Little Richard, Jerry Lee and assorted 'friends', they were all old guys but still quality performers, past their best, but I saw 'em. They're all 'up there' jamming to Johnny B Goode - RIP Chuck.
