The Tigers may not have had a fixture at the weekend, but there was some action for those currently out on loan. Here’s our regular look at how they got on.

Allan McGregor kept a clean sheet as Cardiff City thrashed Rotherham United 5-0 on Saturday. It was McGregor’s fourth shut-out in eight appearances for Neil Warnock’s side and provided a solid platform as the Bluebirds eased their way to three Championship points that moved them up to 12th place in the table.

Elsewhere in the Championship, James Weir was an unused substitute for Wigan Athletic’s goalless home draw with Preston North End, with Alex Bruce still waiting for his first appearance for the Latics.

In League Two, Josh Clackstone made his first league start as Notts County secured a 3-2 victory over Leyton Orient. The defender played the full 90 minutes for the Magpies, who let a two-goal lead slip before Jon Stead scored a late winner.

Harvey Rodgers got another valuable 90 minutes under his belt in Accrington Stanley’s 2-1 win against Colchester United. It was the young defender’s fifth appearance for Stanley, who are now 19th in the League Two table. Striker Jonathan Edwards was an unused substitute for Stanley in the same game.

Max Clark was also an unused substitute as Cambridge United recorded a 3-2 victory over Newport County. The midfielder watched on as Mark Roberts scored a last-minute winner for the U’s.

A round-up following a busy few days for our players out on loan.

James Weir came off the bench to help Wigan Athletic to a 1-0 win at Birmingham City on Tuesday night. The midfielder played the final 12 minutes at St Andrews to help close out the game after Dan Burn’s first half goal had given Wigan the lead. That game came after Weir had been an unused substitute for a 1-0 loss at Blackburn Rovers at the weekend. Alex Bruce was an unused substitute for the win at Birmingham, his first involvement in the matchday squad since moving on loan in January.

Allan McGregor was in goal for Cardiff City on Tuesday night as they drew 1-1 at Blackburn Rovers. The Welsh side had led, but a 90th minute goal from Derrick Williams saw the points shared. The weekend had seen McGregor on the losing side with Cardiff, as they went down to a 2-1 defeat at Queens Park Rangers.

For our young players out on loan in League Two, the most recent action came at the weekend. Harvey Rodgers got another 90 minutes under his belt as he helped Accrington Stanley to a 1-0 victory over Barnet, with striker Jonathan Edwards watching on from the Stanley bench.

Josh Clackstone also got a full 90 minutes for Notts County, but they were soundly beaten 3-0 at Stevenage.

There was no action for Max Clark, who sat out Cambridge United’s 1-1 draw with Colchester.

Rodgers and Clackstone are getting regular full games, and their teams have both been generally improving result. Edwards getting some substitute appearances, but Clark seems to have dropped right down the pecking order at Cambridge for some reason, the last 2 games he hasn't even made the match day squad. I thought he must be injured, but cannot find anything to say that he is.

Warnock confirms there'll be no permanent deal for McGregor. Praises him but says "I could get four keepers for his wages".

Allan McGregor suffered the disappointment of conceding a last-minute equaliser at the weekend as his Cardiff City side drew 1-1 with Birmingham City. Cardiff had led through a Joe Ralls penalty, but Lukas Jutkiewicz struck in the 89th minute as the points were shared.

It was an even more disappointing Saturday for James Weir at Wigan Athletic. He came off the bench for the final 22 minutes of their home game with Bristol City but a goal two minutes from time saw them beaten 1-0, a result which cost former Tigers boss Warren Joyce his job. Alex Bruce didn’t feature in the Wigan squad in what was Joyce’s final game as manager.

In League Two, Max Clark made a return to action as he started for Cambridge United in their away game against Carlisle United. Clark played 76 minutes, winning a penalty for his side in their convincing 3-0 win.

Harvey Rodgers played the full 90 minutes as Accrington Stanley’s long trip to Exeter City brought the reward of three points from a 2-0 win, with young striker Jonathan Edwards watching on from the bench.

Like Edwards, Josh Clackstone was also an unused substitute at the weekend as Notts County won 2-1 against Hartlepool United.

Interesting that Allan McGregor concedes last minute goals in both of the reports above.

I didn't say he was at fault, they may have been unstoppable wonder goals or own goals or whatever, just seemed an interesting thing.

Alex Bruce was an usused substitute this weekend as Wigan lost 2-0 to Aston Villa, managed by his dad. Bruce will have been hoping to get on the pitch against Steve Bruce's side, but he had to settle for a spot on the bench. James Weir did not make the side.

Allan McGregor once again played the full 90 for Cardiff City as they won 3-1 against Ipswich Town.

Harvey Rodgers played the entire game at right-back as Accrington Stanley picked up a 1-1 draw at Yeovil Town, the defender was booked. Jonathan Edwards watched on from the bench.

Max Clark missed Cambridge United's 1-0 win over Cheltenham through suspension.
