Well it's all getting interesting now. Here we are with 7 to go and facing a team half way down the league once more. That seems to be becoming a norm when I go to press. However it still begs the same old question what could possibly go wrong.

Accrington come here on Saturday having been unbeaten in the last 11 matches. Therefore they must be the form team of the time and we seem to have played a lot of them. It used to be the case that if you were having a crap time and needed a boost to kick start your season then have a match at Home Park. This time it's us trying to kill a record off and not the other way around. I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Accrington for some reason. I think it was them disappearing for years and then coming back from nowhere. I thought they were desperately unlucky not to have been promoted last season. A disallowed goal by blowing for halftime when the ball was on it's way through the air. They seemed to be going the other way this season but suddenly from nowhere they have appeared again. Not going to be easy but they must fancy their chances of getting to the play-offs at least the way it is going. Hopefully they do but not at our expense. Think this one is going to be another hard fought battle.

Hopefully Argyle will tear them apart but as you said Sensible will be a hard game. Hide in the cupboard job and dare check result online. :emoticon-0141-whew:

Accrington arrived several hours early to perfect their diving skills at the Life Centre. Several players impressed, especially their No 10 and No 29.

Argyle sat back at the start as though they were away at Doncaster or something. Miller tried a cute pass just outside the box when Row W would have been the right recipient, giving Accrington the ball. Their player fell over, free kick (given, not really though), good cross, no defence, 0-1.

Argyle huffed and puffed for 50 mins , continuing to drop back too far, leaving the Accrington back 4 to play keep ball with the novelty of no opposition.

The Accrington No 10 proved to be a polymath, good at football as well as diving.

The Accrington right back, Lanky O'Streak should have been booked for hauling Kennedy down when he'd been done for pace, skill and several other attributes and then sent off for doing the same to Jervis. The ref did neither but eventually he was subbed off early due to incapacity to play football.

After an hour, Adams made a triple substitution introducing the radical concept of two strikers although that didn't last long as Blisset drifted out to a wide right position to which he's hopelessly unsuited. Taylor looked twice the player Spencer was in the first period however and needs to start next time.

Songo'o made a back three with Bradley and Sokolik with the full backs going gangbusters on the flanks. At last we put Accrington under some real stress but were now pressing so far up the pitch that there were a few panic moments at the back which were dealt with by individual acts of heroism rather than defensive organisation. Best 30 mins of football I've seen from Songo'o BTW.

The Accrington keeper, brother of Lanky O'Streak , made some infuriatingly good saves and there were several YessssOooh moments as chances were narrowly missed. Carey started to believe he could score from any angle and distance. There is such a thing as trying too hard Graham.

All in all, we annihilated Accrington just as Doncaster annihilated us last week with the same 0-1 result.

We need to find a home game plan that isn't the away game plan in green shirts. Two strikers perhaps.... pressure on the ball on the other side of the half way line...

There must be some drying paint somewhere you can go and watch instead on those two days.....please.

Good job you don't attend away games....we'd be heading for the National league next season....and I could watch us play my local team... Bromley...'The Ravens'.

I'll have to start calling you Jonah Remoaner....at least it rymes.....no sorry that's unfair....you've had enough bad luck today without me being nasty.

Essentially Accrington did to us what we have done to countless opposition teams this season. Grab a goal, ride your luck and hang on. We created plenty of opportunities without the end product; their keeper made two blinding saves in the last 10. No complaints. Now in 2 minds about travelling to Crawley but probably will as never been there before(and Mrs Lyndy id having all her nursing chums for an afternoon party-area to avoid).

All part of following PAFC. We weren't awful and were better than them but it's the score that counts.

Minor booing at the end NOT helpful.

As the guy next to me said, lose at Pompey, which isn't at all impossible, and bums will start squeaking. Not a good situation then.

Minor booing? League 2 is all over the shop this season with some baffling results. Most teams would be delighted with a 10 point lead over fourth spot, plus a better goal difference, going into the last six games of the season <ok>

No complaints from me either but it is probaly true to say we wus mugged. I think Accington did to us exactly what we did to Doncaster last weekend. As lyndhurst said they grabbed the goal and rode their luck and boy what a load they had. On another day we would have won this at a canter. It just wouldn't go in and their keeper took the Luke roll and nothing would pass. What can you say, still 10 points to the good and even if we did lose at Pompey and next weekend we would still have a lead to lose.

Special mention for the Ref this week. This bloke I read has been a referee since 2004. After today I think they must have meant 4 minutes past 8 yesterday. He was dreadful. I did think he was going to be good at he start when he booked their player for diving. That was as good as he got and the linos didn't help him one bit. He booked wooley head for draging a player down in a rugby tackle. Good decision as it was blatant and crude. However, when he repeated the act a little while later he gave HIM a free kick. After he had feigned injury of course. The foul on Jervis was so blatant even people on the Hoe were shouting. To give a kick the other way begs the question why? What on earth did he think he saw. There were loads of drag downs and shirt pulls he just forgot to whistle for. I think he must have had a pound on 0 - 1 at good odds. I was disappointed with Accrington. Not that they won but in the manner of hitting the deck often and clutching any part of the anatomy they could to stop play. It was embarrassing once more. This aspect appears to have crept into the game in this league. It isn't football and it isn't good and the management who encourage it, and they must have been told to do it, ought to have a long look at themselves. This will kill the game at this level if it continues as the football isn't exactly world class when played normally. The sad part is the Referee went along with it again. Whilst I don't think Accrington weren't worthy winners today some of their tactics were lets say questionable.

MOM their keeper by a million miles. Our best player today Threkeld for me. The rest were hit or miss most of the time.

The rot is setting in deep Sensible. FIFA have taken physical contact out of the game and we're left with diving, feigning injury, time wasting, unlimited holding and pushing.

We saw a lot of that from Accrington today but do you know what, it wasn't exceptional. That's the shame of it.

PS You may have seen it too but I saw the Accrington manager gesturing to his players to slow down at free kicks etc. How sad is that.

I am going to disagree a little about the ref. I thought he got two big decisions wrong. AS should have had a penalty to make it 2-0 instead their player was booked and the jervis thing was just very odd. Otherwise both teams were as bad as each other, although Accington made more of their ;injuries'. I thought he let a lot go, but that is his style. It is very odd, but whether it is because I am slightly higher up, closer to the half way line, or more detached from the action I seem to get a far better view of incidents in my new seat than I did in the Lyndhurst. I can't say it is more enjoyable to watch from where I now am, but I definitely get a clearer view of things. The ref didn't have his best game, but neither did I think he was that bad-As much as it pains me to say, some of the Argyle players were feigning injury(cheating) as much as Accrington's were. I dont think for one moment that he affected the outcome of the match.
Their manager was a royal pain in the proverbial.Never shut up, always having a go at the 4th official and a few gesticulations to the crowd. Would have been entertaining had we not lost.

To be fair a bit of time wasting is part of the game. No team is going to rush to take a kick or throw if they want the whistle to go for the end. We would do the same and all teams do it. It's the feigning injury bit that gets me and the diving.

I've just been looking at the beeb football site and the stats of the game. I have to say I didn't quite recognise the game from the stats and looked a bit closer. Their 16 was booked for diving. Everyone saw that. The write up during the game doesn't mention it was a dive. I just says his shot was saved and he was booked. The record doesn't show their No.32 being booked. He was woolley head. You know he was booked and I know he was booked but the yellow isn't recorded on their write up either. Makes me wonder what else they failed to record in the stats or added that wasn't there.

That "penalty" looked every inch a dive from my vantage point lyndhurst. The reaction of the Devonport end spoke volumes at the time also. Nobody around my seat thought the Ref got it wrong either. I just thought the Ref was very very poor generally. We were our own downfall today however and losing wasn't down to him exactly although had he produced the Red Card he should have the game just might have been different.

Certain dive for me for the free kick leading to the goal and a nailed on yellow for the "penalty", although many refs might not have done the right thing. I'm not sure altitude is an advantage. From a lower position you see the quality of the movement. The guy took off rather than falling down.

You see I thought the free kick one was a foul from where I sit. I am literally right in line with the 18 yard line. The view was of Miller running behind their man and it looked like Miller put his hands on his back. You and I both know players hit the deck when that happens. But the view being directly behind Miller obscures the actual contact. The penalty that wasn't however was coming the other way and looked like no contact at all. I noticed no protest from the booked player either which again says a lot. The worst though was woolley head hot getting booked a second time and getting a free kick himself. They were doing rugby tackles all afternoon and seemed to be desperate to get an Argyle shirt before the game was over. That was down to the Ref not stopping it.

I don't count minimal contact and a dramatic artificial tumble as being a foul. The pundits' "there was contact so he was entitled to go down" is corrosive. There must be enough contact that you have no choice but to go down. No foul by that standard.
