Forget that crap today, now for the important one..............

So we face Newport once again this season having already played them what seems every other week so far. Are Newport still in the football league I hear you ask.......well, not only are they still in it but are making a very good attempt at staying in it. Hands up all those who thought Newport would be dead and burried by now:emoticon-0170-ninja. Well me for starters but here we are with what is arguably the current form team in the league them having won their last three on the bounce............what could possibly go wrong.

I keep thinking about my campaign to rid Newport of their Manager previously and rejoicing when Mr Westley bit the dust. They couldn't buy a result under him and now here we are needing one more result but with them having a new man in charge who doesn't seem to find results too difficult. If we lose this one I will blame myself. Will it be a massive party atmosphere or will it be the biggest drip session on the planet at 5pm?

0-1 to Newport, with a 90th minute goal from Cowes born, ex-Pompey player, Dan Butler :emoticon-0110-tongu :emoticon-0136-giggl

    Only joking - honest :emoticon-0105-wink:

A draw will do for you to clinch promotion :emoticon-0148-yes:

Despite what the online ticketing system might suggest, there are plenty of tickets left for Monday. I also suspect that Newport might bring a few more than intel suggested earlier this week. Should be an excellent day out, especially with Luton away at Mansfield

Looks like a very big crowd for Monday if what you read comes true. Newport aren't the friendliest bunch we've seen down here so I hope this won't mar the match. Very big crowd full of expectation.........oh dear and for a second time........what could possibly go wrong. I believe we will not fail at the eleventy hour again this season but I dearly want the finish line to be at home.

Newport were dead and buried. 11 points adrift with their fans preparing for non League football, but what a difference a change of manager has made. In the space of 8 games they have clawed their way to within just 1 point of Hartlepool and survival. Don't make the mistake of writing County off, they will be coming to Home Park to pick up all three points and after doing just that at St James's Park last week Argyle should have cause for concern.

Having said all that, Argyle are second in the League on merit. They deserve to be where they are because of good form throughout the season. An extremely impressive away record with a solid home record, but with an achilles heel for slipping up against the teams at the bottom of the table. It's that Achilles heel that need urgent attention for football in League 1 next season and personally I feel its down to the mentality of the team.

If Argyle play well tomorrow they will win, but they have to show the correct mental attitude against a very determined County side roared on by a vociferous away following. Having made too many mistakes against the bottom sides and with the possibility of an Easter Monday promotion party, I feel that Argyle will have learnt their lesson and will have enough in the bank to see off the County.

    Prediction: Argyle 2 County 1

Don't worry PGF I don't think Argyle will be underestimating anyone. We are all well aware of the pitfalls of thinking something is nailed on before it actually happens. As all will tell you on here we played Dagenham and Redbridge at this sort of stage last season. We were playing a side that had already been relegated so nothing could go wrong at all could it. Problem was we were 3 down in the first 30 minutes. Clawed it back to 3 - 2 by the end but lost the game anyway. That was the reason we ended up in the play offs where we didn't turn up.

The big difference tomorrow though is we have a better squad this time around and they have shown they don't bottle it too often. Nobody but nobody will take this game as a dead cert. We have played Newport 3 times this season so far and all of them have been very tight. 2 cup games at 0 - 0 and 1 - 0 and a league game at their place much the same. This time though they will really want a result and they do have momentum. I don't expect a walk over.

I see there are lots of things being said about pitch invasions surrounding tomorrows game. Might be jumping the gun a bit there but I suppose it has to be said. The Club issuing a statement is to be expected and no doubt the tanoy tomorrow will have something to say along the same lines as well. A lot of people on pasoti saying nobody should and a number saying of course we will. I don't for one minute believe the FA would act if people did despite saying they would. It is always a pretty spontaneous outpouring of love and devotion by the faithfull and in our case given the last 6 years would be expected even more. I'll be surprised if the warnings are heeded. As for me I have never seen the need to climb over a barrier and run on a bit of grass. These days I'd probably fall on my arse getting over the fence anyway. Not sure I could condemn those that can mind as long as they don't go to the away end and start mouthing off. It will be the old old story if we have our point. Tanoy announcement "please don't invade the pitch" followed by an invasion and then another tanoy announcement "the players want to come out and do a lap of honour but won't until the pitch is cleared". All this followed by 15 minutes of people being stupid on the pitch and then the players coming out again. By this time I may be ordering my first pint in the club house.

What would you do BC? Will you strip naked and frighten the bears in the woods with a mad dash or just cheer quietly to yourself?

I never go alone these days BC. They don't let me out without my carer :emoticon-0169-dance

If we score tomorrow, or today looking at the clock on my computer, I expect to hear your cheer in block 10 all the way from the Rockies.

So here we go....surely we will go for it today....just one point needed....or Luton failing to win will do it as well.

Since September 3rd we have been in an automatic promotion spot....no team deserves promotion more than us.

To win in style would be nice.....but we don't often do that.....the best win this season for dominating a match must be 3-0 at home to Exeter.

We've had the discussion about tactics: well today the cork came out of the bottle with a very load bang. It could have been any score you cared to name: three shots on target in the space of 10 seconds in the 2nd half with none of them yielding a goal!

Fair play to Newport: they came and gave it a go and were unlucky to be placed in lions' den on a day when this PAFC side finally showed the home fans what it can do. They didn't do a Wycombe and they didn't do an Orient. Their fans clapped our players off the pitch at the end: classy indeed. Shame we conceded at the end I suppose but maybe Newport deserved something.
