Josh Clackstone is one of a number of Academy players to have put pen to paper on new professional contracts this week.

Clackstone, who was included in the Tigers’ first team squad during the opening weeks of this season, is currently on loan with League Two side Notts County. The Beverley-born 20-year-old (pictured) is capable of playing as a full back or centre back and has signed a one-year deal.

Also signing one-year deals are Development Squad members Will Annan and Adam Curry. Another born in Beverley, midfielder Annan has been with the Club for a number of years having originally joined at Under-13 level, while centre back Curry arrived at the Academy in November 2015 after impressing on trial from South Shields.

Completing the list of new contracts are Lewis Ritson and Tyler Hamilton, who are both celebrating their first professional deals. Both players started this season with the U18s, but more recently have stepped up to play for the U23s with one-year deals their reward. Ritson is a South Shields-born centre back, while Hamilton is a local lad who has progressed through the Academy since joining as an Under-9.

Commenting on the new deals, Academy Manager Jon Beale said: “I am delighted for Josh, Will, Adam, Lewis and Tyler. They have all made excellent progress in recent months and it is fantastic that they are all now set to continue their development with us.

“It is another significant step in their young careers, but they must all now continue to work hard and look to kick on again in the next 12 months.”

No it's not, it's one of the other five, but it's the picture that City tweeted the article with for some reason.

That's Hamilton, I think, he was so far ahead of Tymon at 8-14 it was untrue.
Be interesting to see if he will catch up.

    Great news.

Wonder if John, or anyone else, could provide a real lowdown on the players? Also, anyone slipped through the net (on the players who haven't had a deal)?

    Tyler Hamilton. Speedy wide man.

Curry us a big string cb. Recovering from a bad injury. Saw him a couple of times. He'll be a star or a pub player. Confident, cocky and a booming left foot. Makes mistakes tho.

All of the deserve a contract, I have been very impress with Adam Curry and to a slightly lesser degree Lewis Ritson, both look good defenders, and can use the ball well. Curry is out with an Achilles problem at the moment, but what I have seen he is very impressive.

Clackstone hasn't been doing too well judging by what their fans have been saying. He seems to play well when the team is confident, but when the team aren't playing well he's bloody awful and a lot of crosses are coming in from his side.

He started alright, but they don't seem that arsed about trying to keep him there for longer.

Harvey Rodgers is faring much better, as has been said on here, a lot of League 1 and Championship clubs are looking at him.

Do we know which U21s are leaving at the end of the season? Was this JTH's last year?

Ahead of yesterdays five new deals, these were the youth players that had already got new deals:

    2018 - Barkworth, Ellis
    2018 - Hinchliffe, Ben
    2018 - Olley, Greg

    2019 - Bowen, Jarrod
2019 - Mannion, Will (Option for extra year)

There's been no announcements on any of the others being released yet.

ter Horst signed a 3 year deal when he first came in, I don't think he's signed a new one since, so that would put him out of contract at the end of this season.

Fair enough, I don't think he'll struggle to find a league club, but then I said that about Margetts and he ended up at Lincoln. He probably should have stayed there, don't think he's getting any minutes at Scunthorpe.

EDIT: He went back there on loan until the end of the season, although he's yet to score in 6 games.

He's had a right load of messing about this season, he signed on loan for Crewe in January, but they had to cancel it as it broke the two club rule, so he ended up back at Lincoln just because he couldn't play anywhere else.

Jesus, no wonder he can't settle anywhere. It's a shame because he's a great finisher, reminds me of Fryatt a little bit.

Has Tymon been signed up? I might have missed it, but I assumed it would have been big news when he did.
