Was talking to my Brother in law and his missus the other day and we were telling them about the Dover experience. His wife is 73 years old. She was severely injured in a car accident in Spain some years back and has difficulty in walking far and not without a stick at least. She has several metal bits in her body used to pin her back together again. When they last went through Gatwick at silly o'clock in the morning flying out of the Country she had to do the usual security checks which of course she doesn't object to. As soon as she set foot in the machine it went off even though she had already told the half wit doing the checking she had metal parts. His answer to this was to take her stick off her, make her stand in an xray type machine with legs apart while they did another check. She felt totally humiliated which I'm sure any woman of a certain age would given the circumstances. Yet another jobs worth arsehole who treated her like that because he could.

We all understand that they have to make checks and they also have to have certain rules etc. Neither we as acouple object to that and the sister in law doesn't either. But, there are ways to do your job which should not involve intimidating people. The intimidation at Dover was about bringing tobacco products into the country and nothing else. If you indimidate and bully people enough then you migh disuade them from going and getting any benefit out of being in the EU. There was nobody on our coach who had bags full of anything. It was blatantly obvious they didn't. The coach had already been stopped and searched once in France so to do it a second time was pointless. Whilst we were being searched and questioned again there were lorries that just rumbled past with no stopping. This proves to me that the intimidatory actions of the Border people was solely about money and had absolutely nothing to do with border security. The reply to her complaint my wife got spent virtually all of the paper space explaning import rules and had just 3 lines to tell her they couldn't identify the officer concerned. They are a disgrace.

12 illegal immigrants found in back of lorry today................I rest my case as they had already gone through "all the checks". Now if they'd had a bag of rolling tobacco they would never have made it that far.

Booked into a hostel/hotel....fed and watered.....a bit of pocket money.....and at the right moment disappear into the depth of London etc......:headbang:.

I'm sorry but I do feel strongly about this........English society is becoming so diluted because of places like London becoming the centre for world globalization....<grr>.

Two people were taken to hospital after 18 stowaways were found in a lorry on the hottest day so far.
The stowaways waved to alert passing motorists, who flagged down the lorry driver to stop on the A22 in East Grinstead, West Sussex, yesterday morning. Immigration enforcement officers found 18 people who said they came from Iraq, Syria and Iran.......Sunday Telegraph article.

Immigration authorities will surely know what port of entry this lorry came through.....shouldn't their job now be to find out who allowed this lorry to pass through their control point without being properly checked....and then to deal with such lax control.
Ok these immigrants could be just genuine immigrants fleeing to the west....but it just needs one to be a terrorist or an Isil fighter returning to the UK from fighting to create a problem.....don't we have enough home grown terrorists to find and deal with....without the possibility of lorry loads driving through our country.....these were only discovered because of the extreme heat at the moment.
Also heard comments about where some of our Immigration Enforcement Officers have originated from.....and a sympathetic view on such immigration.

Watched about half of the match in the Confederation Cup competition today. Portugal v Mexico. I got so sick of players trying to throw themselves anywhere and everywhere and the Argentinian Ref giving them free kicks that I couldn't stomach anymore and had to switch it off. Some of it was quite comical.

Did you see the Portuguese striker who went down claiming he'd been knocked over from behind by the CB challenging for a high ball?

He let out an horrific scream but when you see the slo-mo, you can clearly he starts to scream BEFORE contact is made! Pathetic.

Sadly this is going to kill football in the end if it carries on. If I want to see acting I'll go to a theatre or cinema.

Now i did watch the 2nd test England v Argentina in the rugby .. now if any one was to stay down after the argues hit you.. you would expect that but guess what.. they get up and get on with it as tho nothing happened..

Now i hear some were that some football high camp wants the 30 minute half as a time out when the ball goes out as they say that is all we get now 60 minute matches with the rest with the ball out of play.. Ridiculous..
What next for these players... Fa cup may be going mid week.. why?

Depends who you play Joe. Some of the teams last season kept the ball out of play for at least 75 minutes or so it seemed. Lets be honest, it's all about the premiership and the TV people. None of it has anything to do with real football but it is the other league teams who will have to grin and bare it for their sake. Us real fans as opposed to the plastic variety the premiership is fast becoming don't matter either. I keep saying this but everytime these people try to change things they invariably cock it up and another bunch of football loving people get pee'd off and give up watching it. I'm not saying things should never change ever but they are just killing football.

Yep i totally agree with you. Hence i tend to follow rugby a bit more. A better day out , no trouble and entertainment full on.. dont get me wrong football is my life, but it just makes me sick thinking the top clubs get their own way all the time.. Yes my family are from Tottenham and follow them but they feel the same about the tv ect ruining the game. to much of it on tv. Perhaps it should be on normal tv and put those soaps on pay per view.:mad: They are un bearable programmes... :emoticon-0160-movie

I received my home insurance stuff for a renewal the other day. In it was a little note about the Government putting up the tax they collect on premiums by 2%. Bleddy Government nicking my money again I thought and then I got on to the how much my premium was going to be for the exact same cover as last year. Took me several retakes but eventually I realised I wasn't seeing things. 33% increase on price. I've just got off the phone from them where I ......erm......expressed my discontent to a young lady who has probably heard it all many times before. "Let's have a look and see what we can do" she said and instantly, that's before she could possibly have tweaked anything, came back with an amount that was 10% cheaper than last year. So a swing to the right side of pricing by 43% in an instant. I do like these swings to the right. She then asked "Is that ok sir and do you want to renew at that price" . Of course I did but I wasn't going to let her get off the phone that easily. I said is this call being rcorded to which she replied yes. I said ok I will renew but before I do you tell me where your company gets off trying to put that kind of price rise on people. What justification can there be. I got a lecture on how things can change in a year like cost of rebuild and the rest of the bullshit they are trained to speil. Easy next question. "So, if the cost has changed how come you find me a premium so quickly that's cheaper for the same cover now I've questioned it"? There was a silence for a few seconds followed by "Do you wish to pay on the same card as last year Sir".

I get sick and tired of this annual farce. They try to screw you over and then give you a price that's less than you started with. I wouldn't mind if I'd ever claimed anything off them but every year I give them cash for feck all and still they want to con me.

Watched Channel 4 News tonight.....a government minister trying to defend the deal with the DUP got short shift when trying to explain what a good deal it was for the whole of the UK....what a sad state Theresa May and her government are becoming.....then we had another minister trying to sell their deal on EU citizens staying in this country....and some of those citizens not feeling anything but being second class citizens here now.

Why cannot we get quality people wanting to become MP's anymore.....looking beyond Theresa May who have they got to become a PM.....the Labour party have no one to lead the country....yet they gained seats from the Government during this election......Lib/Dems have no one to challenge the ageing Vince Cable as it's next leader..... and that is about it.

Whoever formed a Government would have had to do deals so if anyone is to blame it's the British electorate for creating the situation. According to Jezza it won't last long anyway so doubt we will get as far as £1b spending. He thinks it will be his turn then. God forbid it happens but there is just a little part of me that for devilment hopes it does and he is left with the baby and not a clue what to do with it. Once they've fecked up again good and proper they won't see the inside of power for ever afterwards and the British public will have realised why they shouldn't go red. It's guaranteed they will feck up because they always do and we have to live with and clean up the **** for years after.

I wouldn't be so sure Joe. The way votes have gone this year so far I would expect turkeys to vote for christmas every day and lemmings to vote for more cliffs to be built. I already predict another election within 6 months and there would be no shock now if the people voted Corbyn in just to spite May. Never mind the consequences lets just "punish the government" whatever it costs.
