That was a good shout the way things are looking. However if Froome can keep it close until the time trial he could open up a gap then.
Be interesting to see if Froome is at full strength again tomorrow. He was wading through treacle up that runway.
It really was sadistic putting a 20% climb at the end of the stage after what they had already contended with during the stage.
I know , wasn't it great I'm not a Froome or Sky hater but the tour has certainly just got more interesting
Brilliant stage today, the Peloton fractured all over the place. SKY did a great job sending Landa up the road and moving himself well up in the GC. Froome looked OK today, all the main contenders finishing together.
Great ride by SKY and Froome and they take time out of Aru, Froome in Yellow again. Good win for Matthews though on a tough up hill finish for the last 800 metres. EDIT: Froome took 25 seconds out of Aru, leading by 19 seconds now.
I'd say today that aru lost the yellow jersey rather than froome winning it, all he had to do was mark froome but got lost in the peloton, foolish error
I would say it was a bit of both, SKY did well to keep Froome up the front of the peloton, but Aru got too far back because he had no team mates with him, and with the cross winds he couldn't make it back up to the front..
Well, great credit to Chris Froome as well as his team mates getting him back on after his mechanical, that was an incredible feat. What a shower of ****s the French are booing him when he was trying to get back to the lead bunch. In the end as you were, Froome still 18 seconds ahead.
Remember a few years back those frog spekkies throwing a bottle of piss over him- ****ing frog bastards- just makes it all the sweeter when he steps on the podium in Paris in the yellow jersey to take it for another year!
Nervous peloton today, the cross winds weren't as bad as feared but towards the end cause a split, and the only one of the GC contenders to miss out was Dan Martin who lost nearly a minute on all those above him. Rest of the GC finishes as you were with the same time gaps, so Chris Froome still in yellow with 18 seconds advantage over Aru. Michael Matthews took the stage with a sprint finish to win his 2nd stage, and at the same time with the win in the intermediate sprint and the stage win gained 50 points on Kittel, who looks vulnerable and now only leads Matthews for the green jersey by 29 points.
With good reason I'd say Stan. Though they're no worse than the others, just they gave it the high n mighty
It's that, but that is because the French hate the English generally anyhow. But Bardet was up the road and they are desperate for a Frenchman winning the tour again, and Froome is the rider stopping him.
I missed that, that he had abandoned, he had a bad accident earlier today, but was back riding again. But these climbs I think are just too much for him to manage.
