There are players being bought in the Premiership for £20/30/40/50 million, that we don't even recognize by name.....top players are going for monopoly money....so everything else is hiked up as well to ridicules levels....and also paid wages per week that most people would take years and years to earn.
It will come crashing down one day....and many clubs will disappear for ever.....the bigger clubs will have wage bills that resemble the debt of a small nation and greedy players will cling desperately to their pay deals to the bitter end. Many will be getting (I wont say earned) a £million plus a month for 90 or 180 minutes playing time a week....that's assuming they're not injured....some will just be squad members playing just now and again.

Some of the figures being banded about now are incredible, how Neymar can be valued at £196m is beyond my comprehension - You could fund a new league with that money. He is a good player (not in the same league as Messi in my opinion) but to be fair Barcelona have for years had such a good team with great support players that even Fallon would be able to play up front and score.

I think that when football goes pop the only teams likely to be left will be the ones nearer the end of the football league / conference, who have a small fan base but also small outgoings and the Sunday leagues (though none of them would last long).

Thing is that Neymar isn't actually valued at that price. What they did was put a release amount on the contract thinking nobody would be daft enough to meet it and not for one minute expected it to happen. They have done the same with Messi although that figure is nearer the billion than in millions. I think Neymar secretly wants to be the most expensive to have some bragging rights over Messi who he has lived in the shaddow of for quite a while now. He will also get wages that are simply rediculous. I fail to understand how FIFA can have fair financial rules that PSG have to live within and yet they can spend that kind of money and pay those wages on top. Mind you, Man City have spent the best part of £200m this window and no doubt are spending millions more on wages for those players.

From a football point of view it both turns my stomach that clubs at one end of the spectrum can just blow hundrfeds of millions in a season where others struggle to be able to spend a few grand and it makes my interest in those teams less and less as time goes on. Plym is right. There will come a time when it all falls on it's face and those clubs being run properly will come to the fore. Think about it though, the TV companies will still rule and those small clubs now becoming the big clubs of the future will just cave in and go the same way. Nobody ever learns.

I said when we were a few weeks into administration that because of the money they are on, if certain premier league players (Rooney I think it was in that instance), felt like donating a weeks earnings to Argyle we could have staved off the taxman for several months and maybe avoided admin entirely (of course they would have no reason/need to do so, it was simply hypothetical).

No one will learn until the Football market does crash - even then the clown Harvey would probably still claim it is because the EFL clubs would not accept his big idea to allow the Premier U23s to enter the EFL or to give the EFL Trophy a proper chance. :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I think I must be getting a bit too long in the tooth. I sat in my front room last night listening to the boom boom boom of that bleddy music on the Hoe thinking what a racket. However, tonight is night 2 of the same thing only three times as loud. I live a fair distance away from the Hoe and have Mount Gould and upper Lipson in between me and it which should muffle the sound. Not a bit of it and I culdn't hear it any clearer if it was being performed in my front room. No wonder kids take no notice when you speak to them. They must all be bleddy deaf by now.

Has everyone gone on their hols or something?

Just watched the women's England side beat the French 1 - 0. God it's more frustrating watching them than watching Argyle at times. They are reasonable players although perhaps they make the wrong decisions sometimes. This match though was a war of attrition I think it's fair to say. The only result that might have been fair was a 0 - 0 because neither side looked like they could score. Plenty of play around the pitch without any chances being created in the first half at all. The second half had maybe a total of 4 efforts combined and fortunately for England one of their's went in. It was desperate stuff after that with England defending for all they were worth and the French trying to press for all they were worth. A few scrambles and heart in mouth moments but they held out for 6 minutes of etra time which seemed like half an hour. Anyway right result if you are English and I did let out a little yelp of delight when the Ref blew for full time. Onwards and upwards and they could go all the way now.

What a disaster.....not that Usain Bolt lost....but that Justin Gatlin won.....the atmosphere went stoney dead flat....and booing could be heard around the stadium.
If proof was needed that drug cheats should be banned for life.....here it is....TWICE banned Gatlin has degraded the title of World Champion and there will always be the question...IS HE CLEAN NOW ?.....God forgive him failing a drugs test now after this tacky win.....Christian Coleman who came second doesn't get no mention at all for coming second.....the times during this completion have been below par....not so much Gatlin stepping up but Bolt running below his expected level.....ok we all get old and time will always beat us in the end....but this is a disaster for athletics worldwide.

Athletics is already a disgrace. I used to love watching it but drugs is now so rife none of it is worthwhile. I can't get excited and Athletics now deserves a champion like Gatling. Sort yourself out is all I can say and then you won't have the problems.

Watched most of the final of the women's euro comp this afternoon. The better team won but was very disappointed with the Dutch side who still have a tendancy to dive and roll around. The fact this seems to have become fairly normal in the women's game so quickly is sad. When I watched a couple of games in the early stages of this competition I was happy that they didn't seem to do this. However, the further on in the comp they have gone the more it happens. The Dutch did this against England, not that they didn't deserve to win that game, and were at it again today. The women's Referees fall for it just as much as in the men's game.

I hadn't realised that Torquay were bottom of the league until the news today that they have sacked their manager 4 games into the season. I had thought they had gotten over their troubles to some degree but it seems they are going to have another rough season. Shame and hope they find a way to turn it around.

Good to hear you are back in the outback BC. The smoke you can smell is all the bears with their Bar-B-Qs. Now the humans are back they've had to bugger off into the woods again. Much to the relief of all the smaller furry things.
