Does anyone think there is an issue because his 'number 2' didn't come back this season. (I think that's right?!). O'Neil struggled with no Robertson. Think he needs some assistance, another persons input, especially during games maybe?

We are going thro a very bad spell, where we get all the bad breaks on top of at least five or six first team players all hitting poor form at the same time, an awful lot depends on the crowd staying with Dick, if they do and I certainley hope that they will, he will stay. If he does I have no fear that we will pull through. As a side line to this I would love us to be supportave of YK, he is no shirker and plays the game off the front foot, sometimes it goes wrong like Saturday but he is the type of player we need to get behind and help him prove his detracters wrong. If we do this we are all winners, if we listen to the snipers in the media it will be a disaster. In this situation we find ourselves it is a case of when the going gets tough, the tough have to get going, hopefully all in the right direction and not quitting in the face of adversity, a couple of wins is all we need, but we might have to wait a while for them, and ride a few more punches before we go on a run, which is not beyond this squad, especially if we have another decent window mid season. Keep the faith, onwards and upwards.

No comparison to that squad, but it will be tough there is just no getting away from it, just hope Ellis keeps the faith, as I think the foundations are being laid down now for better times ahead, its just my gut feeling about this current situation, I think the few who aren,t hurting over this will be out of the door, before too long anyway.

I think he'll last. I think there's a lot of premature theories kicking about in regards to why we're not doing well. Dick has told us the score and he's told us the time frame to get us to our best.

I don't think many - if any - of us are wondering why we're not doing well, funky. I think it's more a matter of wondering why we're not doing as well as we can. Dick's already criticising the player's commitment, so there's no need for us to fall out with him. He's obviously wondering the same as us. Dick and us are on the same wave-length. The question is more why aren't the players showing the effort they can? It's not just a matter of match fitness - Dick knows all about that. But some of the others are clearly worrying him.

I don't know either way. I hope so but our managers don't tend to last a full season anymore so you'd be forgiven for expecting him to go.

**** knows what's wrong with this club.

Not a chance were are like a punch drunk boxer whose coach can't find the ****ing towel. The fans don't deserve this, the club certainly do though.

I honestly think the first game we have a chance of winning is against the mags - that one could go either way. United, West Ham, West Brom? A point or two at best from them imo.

I think West Brom will be the game. If we lose to Man U and West Ham (which is very likely) he will have West Brom to save his job, Short might pull the trigger before the Newcastle game to get the new manager lift for that match.

Either way I don't see DA lasting until the end of the year unless their is a minor miracle. Its a big shame as I like him and want some stability.

I think he'll be given more time that any of our previous managers.

But it seems people are fast losing faith in him. Myself included.

As always the buck stops with the manager, but I hope for his sake that he pulls this team together and we start winning some matches. It is really sad that this season has turned so badly for him, especially after the euphoria at the end of last season and the flowers to his wife from our fans.
This must be excruciatingly painful for him as well as the fans; he is a decent man and has been a pretty decent manager in the past. SAFC seems to be a step to far for any manager & who else of any note would really want to take the job?
Hats off again to any fans that went to the ground tonight and I'll bet there are a few already sorting out their transport for the MU match<applause> fabulous fans that deserve much better. KTF in an armchair way down south is fekin hard enough; the light at the end of the tunnel looks to be a train!

The fear mate, self belief, lacking confidence is really infectious and it's oh to easy to give up. Bournemouth when the goal was disallowed is a prime example. We gave up. It will take a while to build the right mentality. Just a big frustrating wait.

If Dick Eggflip is still the Manager of Sunderland at the end of this season I will stand naked, on one leg, with a Didgeridoo stuck up my @rse, outside the Stadium of Light and f@rt the theme from "The Walking Dead"! (Even that would be more inspirational than that "Dance of the Knights" Garbage currently played).
Sunderland HAVE to get the PASSION back in every department and that has to start on the field. Just about every player is 'below average' at this level. The last three Managers have been a joke.Seriously need a change of management and some 'above average' players quickly.
It's been 50-55 years since I frequented Roker Park on a regular basis but nevertheless the players in those days ran till they dropped for the club and the crowd knew it and got behind them. PASSION.

Last night we were the batter side and 0-3 down so what would you know? Or are you just listening to talkshite spot the gutless" line as they love us so much since we banned their beloved Mickey Gray from the SOL! The crowd didn;t all walk out at half time - most stayed till the very end and applauded the team off the pitch for a decent performance (which, all in all, it was all bar the keeper)! There was a lot of passion from fans and players last night and the performance was decent - against lesser sides (and a less biased referee) we may have got something there (penalty foul was outside the box, Borini's goal was fine, we missed a couple of very good chances) on another day they go for you (well, literally as they hardly ever go for us) so the fans had that passion and the players earned their applause from the field.

Edit: If any of our fans lose faith in a manager who has just had 2 of our best home performances (Spurs and City) then tell me what he has to do? If we play decent football and it doesn't go our way then what? Sam Alardyce? Hoofball to Toivonen and/or (God forbid) Fletcher as first choice striker? Yeah great!

Yes, I understand what you are saying Marcus and I agree we have had some bad luck with 'the woodwork' and refereeing decisions but Sunderland have not had a decent striker for some seasons now and it's goals that win games and put 'bums on seats'. I know the game has changed both physically and financially and 'possession football' is the norm these days but it is boring, boring, boring. I am obviously not at the game and cannot experience the 'atmosphere' but I watch the games 'live' with the benefit of 'instant replays' and I am not seeing much passion from many teams these days. The players don't seem to be going on to the pitch prepared to sweat blood any more like Sunderland players of the past. I'm getting the morbid impression that there is complacency setting in and this isn't good mate. As you say, Fletcher just hasn't got it and if all there is left is Danny Graham then the word 'doomed' comes to mind. Maybe too early to judge Defoe and I know the fans will never desert the Club regardless but they deserve something better than this and (just my opinion) I am not seeing anything from Eggflip that is progressive.

Thanks Marcus, your view of the game gives me some hope. I misread his comments late last night, reading 'passion' and nowt else, fek! I hope DA stays and I hope it's a really big didgeridoo for Tigerpoo when May comes around; mind he would probably enjoy it:emoticon-0102-bigsm

Could get a result against West Ham. City looked much better against them than they did last night. That second half (against West Ham) was dominated by City.
