Typical united losing when we have a real chance to gain points on Liverpool, Spurs or city ffs.... Just typical united from the Fergie days when we were chasing

We need to be starting games at the same tempo we played in the second half.

The manner and context of Rooney's goal sums it up perfectly. Meant **** all <ok>

I think this with every game we play this season. Just once in a while (not even every game) I'd like us to start and score a couple inside the first 20 mins.

We really don't deserve Champions League football. We've not been good enough and not been near as good as the other top 4 sides so why should we think we should be there?

    That's just bollocks.

It meant we got a draw instead of a loss. As doubtful as it sounds, it could actually make a difference at the end of the season.

He's got the record, time to accept it lads.

Sorry if you think he's undeserving.

Actually, I'm not as he is deserving.

Absolutely ****ing typical, Pool drop 3 points, one or both of Spurs and City have to drop points and all we can do is scrape a single point at Stoke. This has gone on for years and years when we have been playing catch-up, why can't we just get the job done <grr>

A draw when needed 3 points. And it's not a one off, it's a bit of a habit tbf, so it really doesn't mean anything.

I know you're a big fan of Rooney's but this isn't about him, it's about the underachievement of the team as a whole. Had he scored the winner against Liverpool last week, it would've meant far more. To rescue a point against Stoke it means **** all. I only care about the team as a whole not the individual here.

People have to accept we have an underlying problem creating and scoring goals. There's a real problem in the manner of our play in the final third of the pitch.

EDIT: Oh and Mourinho needs to figure out his best starting XI because right now he seems like it's his first year in management.

Rooney deff deserves the record no doubt about it. Been a legend for us.

Frustrating to drop more points tho especially to an own goal.

I actually think the creating has improved quite ca bit in the last few months, some/much of the finishing has been pathetic though from all the players.

EDIT........at least we never give up until the end :bandit:

He broke the all time scoring record for Manchester United.

To suggest it means nothing is ridiculous to be perfectly honest.

Last few months? Bloody hell Diego, we must be watching different games <laugh> I think we should be creating far more clear cut chances. I'd say about 10% of the chances we created are crafted into clear cut chances. Most of our final balls rely on luck rather than accuracy tbh.

Well done Wayne, fully deserved. That's all well and good but in the context of the game today, it meant nothing. The point being that the manner of him breaking the record sums us up atm. Like I said earlier, I'd be celebrating that 250th goal a lot more if he'd done it against Liverpool last week and gained us 3 points in a game that would've meant something. Ultimately for me, it's about the club more than the individual, and right now the fact he scored a meaningless equaliser against Stoke to break the record, sums us up atm.

A record like this owes as much to longevity as efficiency, Rooney has been with us for his peak 12 years (ok 3 of them were in Moyes and LvG teams :bandit:), Charlton was with us a fair bit longer. If players like RvN and Ronaldo had been with us for their best 12 years I feel they would both have scored more.
Not knocking the achievement in any way, just pointing out that time helps.

We get one point for a win, none for a loss.

It was not a meaningless goal. Regardless of who scored it.

I have been a scathing critic of Rooney on here - but that goal marks an incredible achievement in the modern era and so he deserves all the plaudits. That doesn't change my opinion that he shouldn't be starting games any more, but JM has managed the impossible in my view - to effectively bench the club captain and, in the space of a few months, turn him from first name on the team-sheet to impact sub without disrupting the side or the dressing room spirit - no mean feat at all.

This tempo thing is really annoying. We need to start like this against more sides (obviously not every game) - grab a few goals and put games to bed sooner. That will give JM the chance to rest key players, something that will be vital as the season progresses.

They weren't though so it's irrelevant.

I'm no big fan of Rooney, I just don't get the slant from some that he is somehow not deserving of the record. He got it, so he is.

Just like Leicester deserved to win the league last year yet some weirdly think they didn't.
