Morning all, from sunny Buckinghamshire. Out to lunch today with family for Mothering Sunday. At least I will be eating today rather more than I did Thursday night. Passports checked, car inspected in a couple of minutes in Dieppe, registrations noted,and given the all clear. Arrive in Newhaven and go through the whole procedure again, only this time it took an hour and a quarter to check forty cars. I think that super jobsworth was on overtime payments.

Evening all from Newhaven. After my tour I catch the ferry back in the morning. I had my eyes tested while in Gloucester, and I have very healthy eyes which is nice to know. Despite the years I can still drive without specs, and the reading glasses that you can buy in the supermarket are fine. However I think I have caught a cold.

Morning all, back in mid channel and it is certainly a lot smoother than last week's crossing. I think I am returning with a fully blown cold, something that happens to a number of us when we venture across the water. Daughter sent me a text to say it is 24 degrees at home, so hopefully my plants have not cooked.

I must say that I am glad to be home after my trip across the water. The weather is warm and sunny and the welcome back from my neighbours has been just as warm. It took ten minutes to disembark from my ferry and clear immigration, rather different to the sorry tale in Newhaven. We usually buy items when in the UK that we want and are not always easy to find here. Mme went through the items on the cash out tickets and found out that many items had gone up in price since last October by 10-20%. There are some things that we bought because they were cheaper, but now know they are a better price here.
