Best Driver: Vettel. He pulled out the bag just as Ferrari planned.
Worst Driver: Button. Worst race of his career.
    Best Rookie/New Driver vandoorn
    Best Team: Ferrari
    Suprise Team: Red Bull
    Worst Team: Mercedes
Best Overtake: no overtake happened without both cars going out

Most Surprising Result: Hamilton of the pace
    Least Surprising Result: Vettel podium
Funniest moment: Button to Alonso saying he will urinate in his seat
Excuse of the week: Hamilton blaming tyres. It was more than that.

    Special Mention:

Stroll for willingly retiring from a race when under pressure. A great show of no racing heart.

Palmer pretending to be a racing driver.

Ericsson for that audacious move on the safety car on a corner the teams have been warning as falling apart. ****ing well played have another 1 year extension.

Best post from the race thread: cosi for confirmation that Mercedes will struggle due to long wheel base.

    Worst Team: Sauber,
    Best Overtake: ahahaha

Most Surprising Result: A Ferrari 1-2
Least Surprising Result: no McLaren at the finish

Excuse of the week: Any reason someone gives for there being an F1 event here that isn't $$$.

    Special Mention: the Indy 500.
Best post from the race thread:
Race Rating:There was a race in the US, not Europe.

I think my feelings on Monaco are clear.

Nah, there's been way worse. At the same circuit in 2012 he was knocked out in Q2, got stuck behind Kovalainen's Caterham and crashed out trying to pass him. Thats before we even talk about Canada 2012 or Brazil 2016.

At least the pace was OK this weekend. Just the penalty and a silly crash. (which wasn't even that bad i'd contend, Wehrlein just didn't see him). Worst driver of the day perhaps, but not the worst of his career.

Best Driver: Ricciardo, Vettel and Sainz all did a little extra to maximise their result, in a race where it's hard to split performances really.
Worst Driver: Ericsson. When was the last time somehow crashed under the safety car in the dry?? He cannot be bringing enough money to justify his seat.
Best Rookie/New Driver: Button? Up to speed remarkably quickly, screwed over by Sauber's pit release and the joke of a penalty, only blotted his copybook with the desperate move. No other rookie shone really.
    Best Team: Ferrari
Surprise Team: TR perhaps, McLaren for not having a technical retirement??
    Worst Team: Sauber, Williams?
Best Overtake: Ericsson on the safety car. Am I wrong in thinking Kvyat passed Perez after the safety car restart, but it was never shown on screen? It must have been the only clean pass in the race if it did happen.

Most Surprising Result: Sainz 6th, Hamilton 7th? Wouldn't have expected either to finish that highly.
Least Surprising Result: Kimi missing out
Funniest moment: Ericsson crashing under the safety car genuinely made me laugh out loud. Ricciardo dumping the Sky reporter in the swimming pool in a pre recorded interview was quite good too.
Excuse of the week: Stroll not making a mistake, and admitting he has no clue what to do and if someone could help that would be lovely.

Special Mention: Ben Edwards for staying awake?
Best post from the race thread: Not read it fully.
Processsion Rating: 9/10 - Would have been a perfect 10 had Perez not tried to turn it into a race in the closing laps.

yeah, he controlled the restarts so well, but once they have a run on you there's noting you can do. I remember when I used to race it on RD3 (but only 20 laps), first was the worst place to be on the last lap.

He was defending the position beautifully for a while there. I'd started to believe he might just pull it off for a while. :)

    Best Driver: Vettel
Worst Driver: Ericcson. His crash was nothing short of ridiculous; something you might expect from a novice who over-rates his/her ability. That should absolutely NEVER happen in F1. Totally inexcusable.
Best Rookie/New Driver: None – unless Button counts: Despite the unfortunate effort at an overtake which was never on, he settled in to the (long) weekend very quickly.
    Best Team: Ferrari
    Surprise Team: Toro Rosso
    Worst Team: Sauber
Best Overtake: Err, I'll save this for the next race…

Most Surprising Result: Hamilton qualifying: out in Q2! I expected him to struggle but nothing like that much.
    Least Surprising Result: Vettel win.
Funniest moment: Button radio to Alonso. Classic. <laugh>
Excuse of the week: Whatever Ericcson came up with…

Special Mention: Ricciardo P3 and he may even have had a realistic chance for something better. Sainz P6. Bottas beat Hamilton fair and square and probably got the most from his car. Hamilton P7 after qualifying 14th (starting 13th due to Button's penalty) was the result of great determination and good strategy: wide, fast cars at Monaco is the perfect recipe for a procession but he made up six places during the race with a poorly set car. Raikkonen: obviously great qualifying for the most important Pole position on the calendar; but only worthy of a negative mention for his racing.
Best post from the race thread: ASC, as quoted by JC, above. [And a personal thankyou to El Bando. ;)]
