In all seriousness, pilgrims, I actually think one running tomorrow is one of the most interestingly perched animals I’ve seen for many awhile. Not saying it’s going to romp home by 20 lengths (or even win for that matter) and certainly ain’t going to make any prophesies about running starkers anywhere, re this one, but the declaration certainly caught my eye at Rippers – THE TWISLER (5.15). This one makes his bow tomorrow for Neil Mulholland having previously been barned with Charlie Hills, Jane Chapple-Hyam and Roger Ingram. Was a dual winner for the second of these (including at Listed level) and was at the end of 2015 rated as highly as 106. Since that time though the old boy has totally lost his form with unplaced effort after unplaced effort. However, because of this that rating has fallen to a lowly and attractive looking 78, I say, 78 . I rate old boy Mulholland very highly and, if, either he or a change of scenery have managed to revitalise The Twisler then that revised perch could be exploited to the full this summer starting at Ripon tomorrow providing he arrives at the course in full fitness (this does have to be taken on trust, of course, after 170 days away from the racetrack). It is also worth noting that the yard evidently feel the ability is still there as they have entered him in next month’s ‘Ebor’. The barn have already had 2 winners since Sunday so are in good heart whilst The Twisler has decent form on a range of ground so can’t see any variety of underfoot conditions being a problem (very uncertain weather forecast at the moment). No quotes, at the time of writing, but both Sky Sports and Sporting Life are forecasting 16/1. I would regard anything in that region as a solid each-way recommendation. Good luck, troops.
I don't know stick. I'm not at all au fait with betting. Can't you bet on the Exchange the day before? I just haven't a clue. The forecast was 16/1 and Lamby says B365 are going 4s. I just assumed that such a significant difference implied someone had backed it, quite heavily. Just humour me - oh you already have
Evening all Making my first visit to market rasen tomorrow, currently nicely ensconced in a nice little boozer in Lincoln with me old man. Any pointers for a few winners would be appreciated Cheers.
In the big handicap hurdle I wouldn't put you off Mad Jack Mytton - 2 miles or thereabouts on good ground is exactly what he wants. Cup Final at a nice price in the Summer Plate
Are They Your Own, what a terrible name for a gelding Lovely Job, it would be a blow if that didn't come in I expect Harry Skelton to swing into action with Whatzdjazz Hopefully you can celebrate with Pop the Champers Can't get too bullish about Red Tornado but only 1lb higher than when winning this last year The first race will produce an odds on winner so best left alone
I like Mad Jack Mytton but at the same time I wouldnt be in the least bit surprised if there wasnt more to come from JOHN CONSTABLE. He fairly bolted up in the Swinton against a better field than this. The handicapper has clobbered him but this yard might get that little bit more out of him. I like DAYS OF HEAVEN in the plate and 9/1 looks a decent price and Henderson can follow up later on the card with RIVER OF INTRIGUE.
3:35 Newbury - Requinto Dawn 20/1 ew. This is horse is very well thought of (my brother knows one of the 6 owners) and looked quite promising on debut. Disappointing (to say the least) the last twice and after being gelded the hope is it can build on that initial promise. Unfortunately i've had no word on what to expect today so my punt on it is based purely on the fact that i know how highly they regard the horse and what they have expected from it in the past even though it has so far failed to live up to them expectations.
