A Portugal paper is claiming we have agreed a fee of 15 million Euro for him. Anyone else heard this?
Some reports today that we have stuck at our value of £13m while they wanted £18m but Benefica are about to sign a young lad from Argentina and when he does they will let Samaris go for £13m...watch this space Newcastle has already bid €15M for the player according to O Jogo but Benfica was holding out for €20M (£17.8M), and it could now be that Newcastle can get their man for that €15M – around £13.4M. However, there was more news in O Jogo yesterday that terms have already been agreed with Samaris and he will be getting a bumper pay rise to sign for Rafa Benitez at Newcastle. O Jogo is reporting that he gets €900K a year at Benfica at the moment and Newcastle has offered him a huge €2.5M/year wages after taxes to make the switch to the Premier League and Newcastle. *Please note this is not a "surprise" and I have no reliable sources just conjecture floating around on the net from tabloids, this source being the Portugese Paper "O Jogo".
BTW if you want to start transfer rumours on here take a leaf out of Windy's book and make it as vague as possible but with insinuations of a quality source. Too much detail means you can be shot down too easily as will referencing your source. Windy's version of this would have been: Understand Club has press conference planned for surprise announcement.
I see where I've gone wrong here. Thanks for the heads up will red(uce)ouble my efforts and put in even even less info next time Think it shows we are negotiating well and not been taken for a ride on the crazy train that is the EPL transfer windows.
It shows we are a no frills operation that won't achieve anything because its now a boring football club All you need to do is look at how **** our strips are
I'd rather we didn't smash our transfer record for a 28 year old who couldn't hold down a place in Benfica's team last season
I'm not saying this player specifically i mean in general Mate our transfer records prehistoric The equivalent now would be about 100 million 15 million is nowt now we need to wake up
Get ya point but we'd all be sat here wondering what the **** our club was doing spending even 50 mill on one player. McCarthy 25m, won't be getting in Everton team for second year running. Whilst I agree it's been prehistoric in the past, I can't say it has in the last 3 years. Spent a lot of money on getting relegated, spent alot of money on achieving promotion, now we're not spending a lot of money because of the absolute ****-housery of the market. 15 mill is a small amount but I'd rather it be spent on a player with potential (Murphy-12 mill) than just chucking 15m at a 28 year old who is arguably not good enough to start in the Portuguese league which, once you get past the big guns of Porto, Lisbon and SLB, is pretty ****. So I think we would spend 15 mill, just not on any old ****
Keep reading that this one is close. Only problem is - Can't see us spending 12 mill on a 28 year old.
Really? I've been reading this morning that it is dead in the water and that Merino was an instead of rather than an as well as. Told Newcastle backed away from move for Andreas Samaris. Deal wasn’t right. Went for Mikel Merino instead. https://t.co/6pwOqAXEqa #nufc — Miles Starforth (@milesstarforth) July 28, 2017
That's the trouble - Conflicting reports. Portuguese media are claiming that a £40,000 p/week contract has been agreed along with a £12 million fee. Personally hope not. Samaris is average at best.
