Steven Smith dominated the Allan Border Medal night in much the same way as he has blitzed bowling attacks over the past 12 months, taking Australian cricket's most prestigious award by an enormous margin in Sydney on Tuesday night.
The Border medal aggregates votes compiled for performances across all three formats, with the greatest weighting given to Test-match displays. Smith's tally of 243 votes put him a whopping 68 clear of his closest challenger David Warner, who put in some outstanding efforts in Tests at Newlands and Adelaide Oval but could not match Smith's consistency. In third place, a further 49 votes behind, was the 2014 winner Mitchell Johnson.

Perth Scorchers beat Sydney Sixers by four wickets in Canberra to win the Big Bash
    Perth Scorchers 148 for 6 (Marsh 73, Lee 3-25) - Sydney Sixers 147 for 5 (Henriques 77)
Sydney Sixers, after bucking a poor start to finish on a promising 147 for 5, left the opposition eight runs to get off the last over. Brett Lee, playing his final game of cricket, was entrusted with it and he struck twice in two balls to reduce to equation to one run off one ball.
Everyone had come inside the circle, with three short covers and a silly mid-on to crowd the new batsman Yasir Arafat. A full and straight delivery was flicked to midwicket and the batsmen ran on instinct for a single that was never there. Moises Henriques, the Sixers captain, ran up to the stumps to collect the throw but he fumbled the take and Arafat dived to make his ground and seal the title defence.

Michael Clarke will play grade cricket for Western Suburbs in Sydney this weekend and Cricket Australia is confident he is on track to be fit for Australia's second World Cup match against Bangladesh on February 21. Clarke will play as a batsman only during the Saturday-Sunday grade fixture, with his return to limited fielding duties set for late next week.
