-He's in the race, so it is a possibility -these long slogs often have odd results --especially in heavy ground -I've gone for the bottom weight -beaten fav last time at Carlisle -Emma Soda @ 16/1 -good luck whatever you do!
Burnt a bit of midnight oil, and quite honestly, cannot find anything worthwhile today. So, will fly Sir Barney's white flag (purchased from his online shop) this time. Probably just as well, this thing's going to bomb-out pretty quickly, and how! Good luck to everyone having a punt today.
Geez Swanny, I've just caught onto just how well you're going at the moment. Well done mate, hope you don't turn out to be another Lance Armstrong. If anyone comes a knocking wanting you to wee in a tube, tell 'em to bugger off. I noticed that Oddy has taken an interest in the Devon National, fingers crossed for the youngish man. One that took my eye in the race is Finish The Story. No surprise there, he's favourite. I think he might be a handy type though. Originally trained by K. A. Heffernan and ridden by a MR. A.J. Flaherty, he was tried in 6 bumpers before being lobbed into a Maiden hurdle where he finished down the track. It must have been enough for connections. He disappeared for nearly 2 years before reappearing in the middle of last year in the care of J. Farrelly. With a short space of time they had him at 3 miles, over hurdles. Then it was onto the sticks where we was quickly stepped up in distance. He's had 3 runs this time in, being brought down, then a handy 5th over 27F before a slashing 50L win over 26F. The big question mark hanging over him though is whether he can get through heavy conditions. Irrespective of what he does today, I think he's an animal with a few wins in him. EXETER 15:30. Finish The Story. 5-1.
South Africa are reinventing the game at the moment. No one should be scoring 400 plus in a 50 over match.
The short game is made for the long handle, but I think most of the time when these monster totals are reached, the bowling is piss poor. Batting has come on in leaps and bounds, but bowling hasn't kept pace.
I had the scoop first eh Gazboy ;-) I wonder if his absence may make a few rethink their plans? Champagne Fever for instance.
Morning fellas!! It's a shame Cue Card won't be at the Festival but he doesn't seem to have been right since his return. Read that the yard believe it's a wind problem so this could have been hindering him for a while and may explain this seasons lacklustre efforts? A speculative eway Lucky 15 to keep me entertained whilst starting my contribution to the Festival preview... 2:30 Exe - DASHUL 16/1 I'm aware that betting in Mares Novice Hurdles are one of the quickest ways to the poor house but having had a look at the card, those at the head of the betting don't appeal. Although this one dropped out tamely in its final bumper run, prior to that had looked decent when finishing just over a length behind a subsequent winner after meeting trouble in running the time before. I'm hoping young Nick Scholfield goes from the front on ground she should handle and leads them a merry dance. 3:00 Exe - STORM ALERT 14/1 Has course figures of 412315P7 and last won off 5lb higher (soft) a little over a year ago. Has been in poor form over both fences and hurdles this winter but trainer has won this race twice in the last eight runnings and may be targeting this again. Throw in the well handicapped angle then it makes this one worthy of a dart. 3:30 Exe - MERLINS WISH 14/1 First start for this one since falling in the 4m at last years Festival. Big ask carrying top weight in a marathon but we can take some sort of comfort that those higher in the handicap have a decent record in this race - three out of the last five winners carried 11st 2lb or more. This one has also proven himself under these conditions and should relish today's test. 4:20 New - CAPTAIN SHARPE 20/1 Being 5lb higher for its narrow win here in December it's hard to argue that this one is well handicapped considering a couple of subsequent uninspiring runs. However, a couple of winners have popped up from the race it won so at the 20/1 I'm going to give this one another chance returned to a track where he has run well both starts. Good luck all - only one week to go, getting excited now!!
Way before my time Stick but I've read that he was a hell of a player for the mighty Spurs of the '60's. RIP. Having been a couple of years older than him Stick and watching him grow into the footballer he became, what was he like as a youngster - where did he get his drive, steel and determination?!
rip Davey me and stick are from the same era graham souness was the nearest I saw to compare with him nothing like that around today newcastle today which way to bougie must win !!!!!!!!!!!! redkalini ew maybe weapon of choice ew palmello ew stay frosty
Proper footballers in those days Heis. Can you imagine Eden Hazard and Ashley Young getting up to their antics with Mackay, Bremner and Giles around. You mind you don't hurt your poorly ribs Drever....laughing at your own jokes and all....;-)
Just the one for me today and Heis just got there first! 4.20 Newcastle Weapon Of Choice Decent performer on the flat and has shown some promise so far over hurdles. Was better in better groud on the flat so today's ground should be fine and looks on a good mark for handicap debut. James Reveley is a decent jockey booking and think 6/1 is a very fair price.
