    SEASON 66

Is the MGPW06 a record breaker?
Is this Kimi's last chance and chapter in Formula 1?
Is Sebastian Vettel in Ferrari or Alonso in Mclaren just romantic nostalgia... an ode to lost times?
Make sure you are strapped in, 2015 will be the year of revelations.

I think Rosberg will jump out the box guns blazing.

    Firstly. Vettels title to lose.

Secondly, I think Hamilton will have his obligatory mucked up weekend, lose to Rosberg, have a sulk and then blitz it in Malaysia.

As I've suggested in the Testing thread, Rosberg appears to be ahead with all the numbers. He also has his head in a very good place at the moment and is comfortable with the car. I think this adds up to him being most likely to start on Pole and if he can stay out of reach of Hamilton, his natural speed should be sufficient to claim Round 1.

By contrast, Hamilton is behind with all the numbers. Also, for one reason or another, he has not got his head fully sorted and still not properly got to grips with a baseline set-up for this new chassis. However, if Rosberg does not put air between the two of them from the start, Hamilton will intimidate Rosberg and be the most likely victor if it comes to a scrap.

So, at this stage, I've no alternative but to vote Rosberg.

[Edit: I'm so convinced of Mercedes' advantage that I've not even mentioned anyone else. But I should. I'd say Ricciardo might be a good bet for any gambler if longish odds are on offer. Williams may also be in with a shout for Pole and I'd plump for Bottas rather than Massa as being the more likely of the two to stand higher on the podium.]

Tough one to call but I chose Hamilton (for obvious reasons) I do think Rosberg will be much tougher to beat this year though so it should be fun to watch. Hopefully it's dry on Saturday too, the last two years there have been wet during qualifying. My top 3 after the race are:
    Hamilton
    Rosberg
    Raikkonen

I've chosen Bottas. I have a feeling Williams will be a major suprise package. Bottas has the tools to keep it consistent and ahead of any trouble.

Rosberg for me. I can just see him getting the early advantage, although I don't expect him to keep it for long.

I've went Hamilton, he may have just been dumped and Rosberg may have been faster all throughout testing, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Logic suggests Rosberg will be a lot faster than last year as he will have more to prove now, but I don't think Australia is one of his stronger tracks.

    My prediction too.

I honestly saw nothing in testing that suggested Rosberg was "up" on Hamilton over the piece by any real margin if at all, but i just get the feeling Rosberg is in a "better place". Will feel he has another point to prove after missing out on the title etc and will go in all guns blazing and take it. For whatever reason i just think Hamilton is more likely to have a troubled time but after a good sulk, get his head together and monster everyone come Malaysia

My tip for a surprise, Grosjean.

The Lotus really doesn't look that far off the likes of Ferrari and Williams, in fact i've a sneaking suspicion they may even be a fraction ahead of Ferrari and not far off of Red Bull and Williams

I will be very surprised if they are near the pace of those 3 teams. I get the feeling they have gone for a cautious approach this season because of their horrendous 2014 and therefore haven't gone for an aggressive design package. I could be wrong though.

My take is that you could probably fix a mercedes engine to a plank of wood and it'd beat any hand-crafted/love-humped design of aerodynamic perfection with a ferrari or renault equivalent to death, in a manner akin to Ivan Drago vs Apollo Creed. The Lotus will defo be quick.

It's going to be very very tight between a lot of teams in the points paying positions. I think Force India/Sauber/Manor will be out of it, just because I'm not sure what the hell is going on behind the scenes at these places, and Mclaren because they have a Honda engine, but Ferrari, Williams, Lotus, Red Bull won't be separated by too much. The Mercedes will walk away with the title though.

As long as the Merc's don't break down then, right now, I can't split them..
Rosberg has been putting in the miles/times and time in the car over the Winter, but Hamilton won't be far behind, if at all..
Best of the rest is between Williams, RB and Ferrari.. the Lotus looks tidy and with a Merc in the back, may do a Williams and surprise a few people this year.
Would love to see Grosjean do well this year..

Vettel or Kimi is going to win 3rd. Pedro de la Rosa was saying they have been carrying a lot of fuel during testing and with their qualifying runs (especially vettel who minced his ss tyre in sector 1) and they have been getting this car ready since early 2014.

Fingers point to Ferrari being the best of the rest, but usually these reports are pro tifosi and are mostly bluster. None the less they will have a tough fight with Williams to get the podium spot. Red Bull likely will struggle again and probably break down unless your in Ricciardo's car ofc. There's also a lot of chatter with the discontent between Renault and RBR at the moment with regards to the power unit updates that will be limited. Their soul focus is reported for the 2016 season which by that time Renault works team could return...

I'm usually pretty excited this close to the start of the season... But i'm not excited at all. I'm looking forward to the Indy season much more! I think it's a hangover from two super dull seasons back-to-back.

    Indy was super last season!
