RANT MODE START Everybody knows the distain with which soft Southern smegheads view us scumbag Northerners with our flat caps and whippets. How dare we venture onto their hallowed territory. I do not know what a racecard costs at Royal Ascot, but it would surely be going some to beat Sandown Park for the rip off of the year charging £5 for the Eclipse Day one. As well as the runners and riders that feature in any card, this one features eight pages of adverts with the pretty blonde girl that the sponsors use on their TV adverts. There are two pages of adverts for Totepool and a page about the after party host, Mark Wright, who apparently became famous because of something called TOWIE. Perhaps the cost is to pay for the centre page spread showing the genealogy of nine modern day equine stars descended from Eclipse? It cannot be for the six pages of adverts about other race meetings. Why do the authorities at Esher allow boozy nicotine addicts to block all the entrances to the Grandstand creating clouds of smoke and puddles of spilled beer that the rest of us have to navigate to come and go between the parade ring and the bookmakers? There is a note in the racecard about a ‘No drinking and no smoking’ zone in the Premier Enclosure – what about extending the idea to entrance and exit areas everywhere? We all know that a couple of beers and a little bit of sun are a good reason for a few Northerners to start a fight, but at Esher railway station it seems that even Southern smegheads can descend into Chavdom on their way back to Woking. All the poor chap manning the platform could do was make sure they stayed away from the platform’s edge. RANT MODE END
QM I was there yesterday as my local course and I said to another guy waiting for a beer in all honesty at big race days I would ban all women - they are a pain in the ***e at racecourses - so slow and cumbersome in their high heels - take forever at the bar - and as for putting a bet on - who puts £2 ew on a 6/4 FFS - they haven't got a clue and take up valuable space - my rant over too
Going to take a chance with the allowances that Ainippe can land the Brownstown for Ger Lyons and Colm Keane in the 3.30 @ Fairyhouse. Currently trading at 9/4 BOG.
The real reason that I wanted to vent my spleen was that I had two winners out of three selections and lost money! I wish I had known that the f***ing eight-lane car park that is the M25 should be avoided at 10am on a Saturday. It took me an hour to trundle round to the M4 at 15mph so I had to go straight to the railway station rather than park at Hounslow West and walk there, stopping at the bookies on the way. So I did not get on Basem at 9/2 or 4/1 and would not do it at 7/2 at the track. When I went in the betting ring Waady was 2/1 so I left it to go to the winning post to then find that it had drifted and the SP was 5/2. I did back 5/2 Black Cherry and Hughes should just pack up riding now and see if he is any good at training: missed the break, go boxed in behind a wall of horses with two to go but probably would not have beaten the winner anyway. Was nearly tempted b the gamble on Candy’s in the last. Add to that I picked the wrong Johnston horse in the Old Newton Cup. The money piled on Watersmeet and it got turned over by Notarised, dropping back from two miles! Have to tell you that as I walked across the course from the station, I was following three seriously foxy types. One was tall and wearing four-inch white heels and a see-through (at least the bottom half was) trouser suit number with a white G-string underneath. One was wearing huge platforms but her attire was a not-to-transparent blue number with white flower pattern. The third one was wearing the tightest fitting off-the-shoulder dress she could possibly squeeze into – and she certainly had the figure for it – but I reckon she was commando as there were no visible lines of any undergarments. Shame they were all young enough to be my daughters...
The weight proved the decisive factor I would say. Ainippe look's very versatile and that's a nice scalp taking care of her elders. Nice little drift too.
Teak should not be getting beat in the next at Market Rasen. Not really much of a price at 9/4 and 2/1 but I was expecting it to be a lot shorter
Sorry got the aftertiming but can't believe I missed Aalim won on his only start over 3m and this time was 5lb lower add to the fact he love the ground and the stable is in tremendous form ! How he didn't go off favourote is beyond me!!
Well then he can be excused I suppose, I can't blame a man enjoying his pints of more on a sunny weekend. Yes I have one I like although maybe I'm getting carried away with my winner today, time will tell.
Well I may as well just throw it up here for now as he's already getting the money. Buzz Off Barosso in the 8:15 at Roscommon. I've taken 4's he's already contracting I'd expect him to go off close to 2/1. Finished like a bullet lto and the 3rd Easy Boy came out Friday and bolted up at Bellewstown doing handstands. He's upped 4lb but I'm sure he's due to strike for Jessie Harrington with Fran Berry aboard. Check his last run out if you can. Again these are not top table horses so I'm hopeful he can reproduce that run and if he does he wins.
Sounds like an urban area of outstanding natural beauty QM. The National Trust could do worse than ring fence and protect such a bootylicious zone.
