Lynngale 4/1 Wolverhampton 6:15 - Not normally my port of call an Amateurs handicap, but Lynngale is weighted to reverse form with current fave Les Gar Gan from last month's running. Ben Stephens takes 7 lb off Lynngale here but Les Gar Gan has go to Amateur Simon Walker steering and will no doubt prove popular. I don't know much about Stephens but I'm trusting his ability and allowance to get the job done here this evening.
If that's one of you boys better bumpers................ Anyone got the stats on Willie Mullins UK raiders in 2016?
Not a big fan of Wolverhampton racing but in the opener JOHN POTTS 10/1 goes of an absolute basement mark around his beloved Wolves, has Serena Brotherton on board in an apprenitice race and is drawn beautifully in stall 4. Has won around this track from 13lb higher.
Serena Brotherton on the 2014 winner John Potts takes the eye also. Like yours is well drawn if they can make the most of it.
Not sure Stick but he has done very well with his 'A' guns while some of his lesser known stars have been hit and miss. Its the big hitters that count though! In fairness nothing has really caught my eye in the bumper like it did with Moonracer last year.Willie has an excellent record in the champion bumper though so rule him out at your peril!!!
Of his I like AUGUSTA KATE but mares just don't win the race. My favourite of all the bumpers that I have seen this season is one called DRUMCLIFF who runs in JPs colours.
I think the heavy ground has kept many of the top bumper horses in their box this time around - certainly no stand-out candidate. Follow the market on the day looks the best advice at the moment - place your bets 1 minute before the off
Bumper may be one of the races that provides some real value and has an open look this year. Adonis aside, what other major festival trials await between now and the big week?
Cant stand Mourinho and not a fan of arrogant people in general.Have to admit it was very satisfying to watch his demise and public humiliation at Chelski this season
Not much I reckon Toppy - the next 4 weekends in England are headlined as follows: Ascot (Reynolstown, Ascot Chase) / Wincanton (Kingwell) / Haydock (Rendelsham), Racing Post Chase (or whatever it is called now) at Kempton (featuring the Adonis). Kelso / Doncaster and the Imperial Cup card at Sandown. I really can't see much shifting the markets there. Ireland has the Irish National meeting at Fairyhouse but I wouldn't expect too many festival fireworks there. All looks pretty quiet till Cheltenham.
Awful day betting on horses and footy, one last bet to get some funds for tomorrow Blank Minstrel 8:45 @ Wolverhampton 9/4
I don't really mind that to be honest- keep the best til the fest! Its about time we had the old stats discussion. You know such a high percentage of winners had run within so many days of the festival etc- would you be concerned if you were the owner of a good horse like MORE OF THAT, who misses his prep because of the ground?
