If I were going to cheat and offer the answers to someone, I would offer them to Mick.

My heart is breaking for the fella. Breaking, I tell ye.

I was born in the south of England during the early part of the 1900s
I couldn't afford university, so I joined the Inland Revenue and later served with the Royal Navy
My eldest daughter followed me into politics and served actively until 2001
I died at home the day before my birthday, and my ashes are scattered in the gardens of a famous hospital

One of five siblings, I was born in the USA during the mid 1950s
My dream of becoming a baseball player never materialised, so I took work as a gardener, sales clerk and road worker
My works have regularly been adapted for film and TV, and I've sold over 250 million units worldwide
I've used my writing skills and influence to campaign against the death penalty, Guantanamo Bay and racism

I was born in the US capital during the early 1960s
As a teenager, I fronted a Rolling Stones cover band, and botched surgery left me deaf in one ear
I've collaborated with the likes of Steve Carell and Larry David, and appeared on The Simpsons
I've had insects, an ice cream and NASA equipment named after me

Beautiful work, Harry Clankers. :) <applause>

I do believe M was well and truly stumped on this one, meaning you were able to swoop and destroy with deadly precision.

You win this utterly charming Otters of the World illustration. Enjoy!

A special Leicester edition today. No link. First to name all five wins a very special prize. Good luck!

The eldest of five siblings, I was born in Leicester during the mid 1940s
I failed my 11-plus, left school at 15 and worked as a packer at a frozen foods factory
It wasn't until my 30s that I found my true calling, and my work was adapted for the stage and radio
In later life I went blind, struggled with diabetes, had a kidney transplant and was wheelchair bound

I was born into a musical family during the early 1940s, in Leicester
I studied classical piano from the age of five and my greatest influences were Elgar and Bach
Other than my main band, I performed with the likes of Whitesnake, Dave Gilmour and Nazareth
A tribute concert was held in my honour, and a member of ABBA classed me as 'my dearest friend'

One of four siblings, I was born in Leicester during the 1800s
My childhood was largely miserable, so I took to running way and eventually found employment at a London workhouse
I soon met a music hall comedian and toured the Midlands and London with him, putting on popular novelty exhibitions
I became friends with the Princess of Wales in my later life, and we often exchanged Christmas cards and letters

The child of two teachers, I was born in Leicester during the late 1960s
I gained my first job, with BBC Radio Leicester, while still at school
I've hosted coverage of royal weddings and jubilees, papal elections and political leader debates
I am an ambassador for the Prince's Trust, and I help to raise funds for stillbirth charities

I was born at a nursing home in Leicester during the WW2 years
I studied medicine at Cambridge, but amateur dramatics was my real passion
Amongst others, I wrote material for David Frost, Bill Oddie and Marty Feldman
An asteroid is named in my honour, and my ashes were once spilt on stage at an arts festival

Uncannily close, but not enough to win the prize, I'm afraid. :(
