Best Driver: Rosberg nursed and managed his car all day.. ok it was in clean air but it was still nicely done.. he never sounded flustered.
Worst Driver: Ocon for overtaking under safety car
Best Rookie: meh... are they even rookies at this point?
Best Team: Red Bull for their reaction to hamilton. would have been ferrari but kimiwas compromised by thier reaction (late)
Worst Team:williams for a shocking pit release. How the stewards consistently have been ingnoring teams releasing in unreal stupid situations i don't know.
    Best Overtake: Verstappen probably.

Most Surprising Result: ferrari getting to 5th with good strategy, after safety car vettel was behind ocon still i think.
Least Surprising Result: a safety car appeared
Funniest moment: Yes i agree kyvat putting verstappen in his place was joyous. about time he manned up.
    Excuse of the week:

Special Mention: Vettel and Ricciardo, vettel more so as ricciardo has track position and just had the tyres for 10 laps
Best post from the race thread: meh.
Race Rating: 6 or 7 out of 10 - it was interesting, it has a couple passes here and there but it just didn't have the grandstand finihs it began to build up to. IF kimi had more life i nthe tyres as he'd nothing in the end and if ricciardo had just got that close a lap and a half earlier....

It was an interesting race thanks to the variety of strategies on show, the tyre rules are so much better, now all we need is a DRS rethink.

Best Driver: Rosberg. Based on the weekend as a whole, he was THE stand-out driver. Vettel also deserves a mention here.
Worst Driver: Several were less than impressive. Verstappen needs to realise that some races last almost two hours. He hurt himself (his tyres) in his eagerness to get on with it yet still failed to pass 'demoted' Kvyat – who, it must be said, defended very well against a better car with fresher tyres. Ocon overtaking under SC. With all the information available to drivers, there are no excuses at this level. Ericcson was lacklustre.
    Best Rookie: Wehrlien.
Best Team: A more difficult choice than usual. By current standards, Mercedes had a real battle this weekend. Rosberg's drive should not be underestimated: in every respect it was a 'champion's drive', whilst Hamilton – beset with difficulties during practice and unable to get a decent balance – resigned himself to what was, by his standards, a rather ordinary performance. Red Bull did well with Ricciardo but Verstappen will be less than happy. His inexperience amounted to being too 'racy' at the wrong times and reminded me of a young Hamilton. Ferrari were a mixed bag too but but did well to slot Vettel into clean air so often after his stops. Overall, I agree with Big Ern though: Mercedes were probably best.
    Worst Team: Manor.
Best Overtake: Vettel's double on Sainz and Gutierrez was probably the pick of the bunch. Räikkönen on Hamilton was also good. And Verstappen neatly despatched Perez.

Most Surprising Result: Kvyat's defence against the upstart was not over-ruled by Red Bull's top brass. Helmutt Marko appeared to be about to order it several times, so I'd been expecting it.
Least Surprising Result: Vettel making his way up through the order. Verstappen whinging throughout the weekend.
Funniest moment: Verstappen complaining when he found himself in a race. It is unfortunate that he takes difficulty as a personal affront – as if foisted upon him by the deliberate actions of the outside world. Grow up man; you're in a top car on the F1 grid!
Excuse of the week: I actually think Hamilton's reasons were valid. This circuit is one of the most technical and with such variable grip is one of the most difficult of all on the calendar to find a good set-up.

Special Mention: Alonso did well. Rosberg not for seeing off the Ferraris but for seeing a prancing marshal. Not at all funny…

Art imitates life in that respect, playing on F1 it's the only track I really can't work out a good set-up for. I remember Webber commenting that there was no 'best' line at singapore, as if you had the optimum line through 1 corner the next would cost you.

I find it a very frustrating track to 'drive' around. Can rarely hook up consistent laps. India was much the same when that was on the game a couple of years ago.

That's interesting. I really must get around to ivestigating some of these games. Which is it you guys are using - and do you think it's the best? Also, which platform is it (or is it generic)?

I'm really out of date with this, so any and info would be welcomed.
    Cheers

I play the official F1 games, either on a PS3 or Xbox 360. Probably the best games out there now since the original Grand Prix games by Geoff Crammond which were around on the PC in the nineties.

They can either be played 'arcade' style if you want a bit of fun, but to win at the expert levels you really need to get involved with car setup and strategy to have a hope of winning. Quite involving and need to keep an eye on the clock as before you know it's close to 2am without realising it!

    Sounds like fun!
I'm familiar with Geoff Crammond's superb effort of long ago. It was the stand-out masterpiece of its time. Other than that, Gran Turismo was interesting for basic set-ups and basic technique, but only if improving lap time was the goal. Unfortunately, the 'racing' aspect was only meaningful against other humans. I briefly used it as a bit of fun; a quirky (but back then, not valueless) training aid for some real-world circuits.
    :)

If you have a PC you would be better off going for iRacing. To play it you'll need a wheel and pedals, and if you wanted to do it correctly you'll be better off going for one of the better ones, I would say the minimum is a Logitech G27. It starts to get really expensive quickly if you get sucked in.

If you have gone this far, that may be too far.

At one point I wasn't too far off building something like that (without the full car), I had a cockpit, screens etc, I started planning for a with hydraulics system too, which isn't as expensive as you thought.

But real life got in the way, and I've had to scale back my PC Setup recently.
