A lucky punter landed £585,143.24 from an 85p bet thanks to Glen Johnson's 87th-minute winner for Liverpool at Chelsea on Sunday.

The gambler -an argumentative type who has chosen to remain anonymous - bet just one euro on his 19-match accumulator, and watched Saturday's football results come in with an increasing state of excitement as the first 18 matches all went his way.
That left the Sunday afternoon match between the Reds and the Blues to decide whether his 683,738-1 gamble would come in.
Liverpool were 7/2 underdogs for the match at Stamford Bridge, but former Chelsea player Glen Johnson did the Geordie gambler proud with his beautiful late goal to secure all three points for Kenny Dalglish's men.
And unsurprisingly, Liverpool have gained a lifelong fan thanks to the win: "He wasn't a Liverpool fan before, he tells us he is now!" said William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe, adding that the amazing punt was a new record at the end of a great weekend for gamblers.
"We cannot recall any punter winning either this much on an accumulator, or landing such stratospheric odds. All we know is he lords his accumulator skills on Not606 Newcastle board from time to time" Sharpe added.

BTW, the first two line are true, the rest is partly true with some creative additions.

Proof you should never trust the Scottish.

Stoke let me down on a £145 this weekend. Not the same scale but that's still a 145% increase on my current bank account.

This is exactly what I have started doing. There is no point in putting a game on that jumps up the odds by only a pound, because there is every chance there will be an upset.

The best accumulators to do are usually three or four game ones.

Best bets I ever had were Nigeria to beat Spain 3-2 with HT prediction and first scorer in the 1998 World Cup (£5 stake and won £1200) and finally for Sunderland to beat their previous record and finish with 18 points or less. Placed it before the season started and put £2 on it. Managed to win just over a grand.

    Never really bet any more.

My best Newcastle win was when we beat Arsenal 3-1 in Highbury.I had L Robert to score 1st/Toon to win 3-1,Robert came on as sub and as we had already scored before he came on my bet didn't count but instead it was settled as 2 single bets 'cos we won 3-1 and Robert scored (1st goal since he came on) collected about a grand and it made for a very happy Christmas!!!!

3 to 5 games, normally away teams, £5/10 on, decent returns. That's my normal bet.

Aye Scottish teams are useless. You get terrible odds on Celtic and Rangers and they arent even dead certs to win these days.
