    Default Redknapp Court Case

Something to distract our attention from the disappointing defeat today, insider info suggests that the evidence is strongly against him i'm told.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/foo...ourt-case.html

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp's trial on charges of tax evasion will begin at Southwark Crown Court on Monday.
Redknapp, 64, whose team take on Manchester City today in one of the most anticipated games of the season, and Milan Mandaric, the 73-year-old who is currently Sheffield Wednesday chairman, face two charges relating to payments of $145,000 (£96,000) and $150,000 (£99,000) alleged to have been made by Mandaric to Redknapp when they were chairman and manager respectively at Portsmouth.

The money is alleged to have been paid into a Monaco bank account opened by Redknapp. Both men are accused of concealing the payments from the taxman in order to evade the payment of income tax and National Insurance contributions on the two amounts. The first offence is alleged to have taken place between April 2002 and November 2007, the second between May 2004 and November 2007.
Both men have denied any wrongdoing.

Redknapp's success at Spurs, who are currently in the midst of their best League campaign for 27 years, has led him to become favourite to take over from Fabio Capello as England manager next summer. Football Association chairman David Bernstein says the search for a new manager will not begin until after the European Championship next July but has stressed that their ideal candidate would have to be a native English speaker.

Expect some biased reporting from the BBC regardless of the outcome....
They have taken a strangely supportive position of West Spam, Bradey and all in the OS 'conflict': their key reporter is a close confidante of the Olympic committee and he is being fed regular disinformation that the Beeb are happy enough to publish.
Having Harry on a plate will undoubtedly be too good an opportunity to miss.
Hope that the club have some Media lines ready......

    Theoretically tax evasion means prison.

But it's one rule for some people associated with football and another for everyone else

Lester Piggott and Ken Dodd each got prison sentences. As did Al Capone.

With his money and recent health problems, he'll probably get a fine and possibly a suspended jail sentence.
They might give him some community service training the Goons though, I guess.

Good news for us: No way the FA will appoint him if found guilty...

It depends on whether or not the judge thinks he has blatantly lied and forced the Crown to spend millions of the tax-payer's money to bring him to heel. I would expect him to get a custodial sentence, if he's found guilty. Had he pleaded guilty and then thrown himself on the mercy of the court, he may have got away with a non-custodial sentence.

Yes but this is actually true, not Fail sensationalism. The Mail article was the most recent one I could find, spouting that line every time you see an article from the Mail regardless of content makes you look like a fool.

Well it might be true, and it probably is, but if it's in The Mail that's enough for me to doubt. Where's your insider info from?
