I'm not worried about the FA sacking Capello, what if he walks?, he has been badly undermined in his eyes.
Not long till the verdict now, I think it's looking good for Harry. He'll probably be found innocent, and almost certainly won't be sent to prison.

The prosecution started sounding desperate when they likened him lying to a NOTW reporter to lying to HMRC. There's no comparison - as well as the fact citing a NOTW reporter as a decent and honourable member of society compared to 'Arry falls flatter than The Grand Wizard's constant attempts to make out Luis Suarez to be an innocent victim of the FA's evil machinations.

It would seem a bit pathetic for this to have gone to court if Harry is found not guilty purely on the grounds that he said the money was a gift that he forgot about and the jury and judge go, "oh, well in that case fine! you should have said earlier..."

Have you ever dealt with HMRC? They constantly **** things up, then make out it's your fault to try and scare some money out of you.
Last year they tried to tell me I hadn't filed my company accounts, despite me having at least three peices of evidence saying that I had. Suffice to say a very sarcastic letter went their way...

As far as I understand (please correct if wrong) the "gift" is exactly the same amount of money as the 5% of Crouch's transfer fee which he would have got if not changing contracts (reducing the 10% to 5% going forward).
So, this is all just a massive coincidence? And the "lie" to the reporter is massively coincidental too?
If this is true and he is found not guilty, it will be a joke with everyone paying "random gifts" to each other instead of bonuses and paying zero tax.

The judge has told the jury to ignore footballing matters, but to "keep their eyes on the ball".

Its looking better for 'arry, clearly it isn't an open and shut case. If I were on the jury I'd ignore the evidence from the NOTW journo, he's probably already written his bull**** article to splash all over the front page. With his vested interest in 'Arry getting convicted, I'm surprised that he was allowed to give evidence at all.
My understanding of British law is that you have to have knowledge i.e if Mandric told Arry that tax had been paid if Arry believed him then he should be found not guilty. On the other hand, if Arry thought jeez, this dude has forgotten to deduct the tax, i'll stash it abroad and hope the problem goes away, he should be found guilty. This case reminded me, I've got an offshore account that i've forgotten to declare, its only got $10 in it and hasn't been used for years, it doesn't earn interest so there no tax liable but it is easy to forget. I hope they dont take me to court.
Harry allowed it to go to court, the amount of money involved in relative terms to him is fuk all, he'd have paid it if he thought he owed it out of court. When you argue with HMRC they just don't listen, so I'm not surprised he said "fuk it, I give up, I'll see you in court. I've been close to this action as self-employed myself, they really do have some thick jobsworth tossers working there, the last few years by far the worst.
