Leading up to the day for Bolton Wanderers has seen little change, with Cahill moving to Chelsea for 7/8 million, and Tim Ream coming to replace him from New York Red Bulls for 2.5 million, we still have a few million in the bank if we choose to spend it.

Wilfried Zaha offer tabled by Bolton for Crystal Palace winger

Bolton have made an offer for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.

Trotters boss Owen Coyle confirmed a bid for the 19-year-old had been lodged with the Championship side, but added that the two clubs were not in agreement over the player's valuation.

"I don't think it is to the value that the Crystal Palace chairman (Steve Parish) wants," said Coyle.

"But it is an offer we felt was fair for where a very talented young player is at the moment."

Bolton are also increasingly hopeful of concluding a loan deal for Arsenal's Ryo Miyaichi before Wednesday's transfer deadline.

Zaha has scored five goals in 32 appearances so far this season, attracting the attention of Bolton's Premier League rivals Newcastle and Liverpool.

Only last month he signed a new five-and-a-half-year deal with the club.

"I always put what I think is a fair value on a player and if we get to it, great," added Coyle.

"He is such a talented young player and he will get better - there is scope for improvement. He has got pace and unbelievable quality and natural attributes.

"But at the moment it looks as if we are a way apart in terms of valuation."

Do we want to spend more than we need to? It really depends on where we need the players really. Short term, defensively we are fine, and N'Gog is fine up front on his own as long as he continues to bring the midfielders into the game like he has been doing of late, but I would say we need a verstialle midfielder that can play on the wing and center attacking. This guy seems to fit the bill and looks much better than Eagles (who imo has been over-rated as the amount of chances Eagles failed to score with against Swansea was ridiculous).

Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill has confirmed that he had a bid for Bolton striker Kevin Davies rejected, although talks between the clubs are ongoing.

"We have have made an offer and that has been rejected," said O'Neill. "We will see where we stand later today."

The 34-year-old Davies's contract expires at the end of the season.

On Saturday, Trotters boss Owen Coyle suggested that Davies still had a future at the Reebok Stadium beyond Tuesday's transfer deadline.

"He is a terrific captain and has a role to play at this football club," said Coyle.

Asked if Davies's substitute appearance in Saturday's FA Cup win over Swansea could be his last in a Bolton shirt, Coyle said: "I would be very surprised if that was the case.

"There is all sorts of speculation. When good players are out of the team, that is always going to happen.

"I can understand why there would be interest. Martin O'Neill did ring me to make an inquiry, but I told him that Kevin was a part of my plans and that I don't want him going anywhere."

Sunderland's need is pressing, with loan signing Nicklas Bendtner expected to be out of action until the middle of next month with a broken nose.

Fraizer Campbell eased Sunderland's worries to a certain extent when he scored the equaliser in Sunday's FA Cup fourth-round clash against Middlesbrough, his first senior match after 18 months out injured.

This is not terrible news, as we only play with the one striker so the issue of needing loads of strikers seems to be evaporating. Kevin Davies is pretty good at his job though, it would be sad to see him go.

So, since the transfer deadline day started, two major things have happened.

Bolton have signed Arsenal midfielder Ryo Miyaichi on loan for the rest of the season.

The Japan youth international, 19, joined Arsenal in January 2011 and spent the second half of last season on loan at Feyenoord.

Miyaichi is not eligible to face his parent club on Wednesday.

"He's a very talented young player who is is quick and exciting," Bolton manager Owen Coyle told the club's official website.

"He had a great spell on loan at Feyenoord last season.

"He's a young player with tremendous promise and potential, and hopefully at Bolton we can give him a platform on which he can display his qualities."

Miyaichi had a successful trial with the Gunners in the summer of 2010 before making a permanent move to Emirates Stadium in January.

He was immediately loaned to Feyenoord, where he scored three goals in 12 appearances, in order to qualify for a work permit, which he was granted in August.

Miyaichi has made two substitute appearances for Arsenal this season, including an outing in the 2-1 Carling Cup win over Bolton in October.

Coyle has enjoyed previous success in the loan market, being boosted by the acquisitions of Arsenal's Jack Wilshere and Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge in the past two years.

Miyaichi could make his Trotters debut at Norwich on Saturday.
