I'm not a great believer in clichés but one that does seem to make sense is "if it ain't broke don't fix it". I often find application for that one, the most recent IMHO being the new revamped, yellow, BBC sport pages. I'm not really complaining about its functionality, just the look. It just leaves me thinking "why?" Mind you, considering their strange move to Manchester, its not like the BBC don't have a track record of unnecessary spending! Generally I think it looks a mess and I know I'll get used to it, but it seems rather pointless exercise for no purpose.

I think it's a bit crap, to be honest.
The Arsenal match report was buried away behind loads of irrelevant stuff, which is where it belongs, admittedly, but it's hardly great prioritising, is it?
The old version was simple, easy and functional.
The new one is an attempt to put style over substance and ease of use. Not impressed.
EDIT: Can you not post cross-board threads linked to General Chat, by the way? It never ends well.
I find it over populated .
Wouldn't be good to look at after a heavy night.
However I'm willing to give a chance before condemning it.
Type face is better but apart from that they have spoilt what was a very usable site and created a mess. Someone in their IT dept has too much time on their hands or has it been ruined by committee. Style over substance as PNP said, almost the theme of modern Britain. Ironic because at one time the British were all about substance and style was not even considered. We have gone from one extreme to the other. The modern German success is based on style AND substance. It's a shame we didn't follow their lead rather than the superficial American one.
Spurf
It is a mess.
What's with the headlines flowing down the middle of the page? Trying to be different?
It's not even finished. Click a players name and it reverts to the old style.
Fail.
Fail will be the theme of the olympics.
I rarely like any change, I didn't sign up to here initially because it was different and I didn't quite understand it and it was only when the Beeb closed and JA crashed that I came on here to find out what happened.
That said, the main football page is a mess, as Inda says, the main stories running down the middle are stupid and they continue the rest of the stories on the left when you get halfway down for some reason.
They should take out the PL table and fixtures as it sends out the wrong message about it covering all football. And then the top scorers bit for some reason isn't in the same line as the fixtures and table and doesn't change when you change league so according to the BBC, Van Persie is top scorer of the whole Universe!
I do like the new colourway and the layout of our team page, though![]()

i dont like the 'follow live match' bit...the old one was much better...i have to wait for the new one to add all the latest comments as soon as i go on it...and i hate waiting!!!

Ever Banega of Valencia to replace Modders if he goes.

I don't mind the desktop version but the mobile BBC sport (for phones etc) is harder to use now - buttons are smaller which gets kinda annoying quick.

First impressions are a bit of a 'Curates Egg' good in parts...
Will take a while to get used to the new layout (and colours) but some of the functionality is def improvement.
On another BBC note - funny how the order of play on MOTD Tuesday was Citeh, Manure, Mousers, Spurs...... Wonder why the Klan got promoted!! Oh - silly question......
The running order was certainly annoying, and we're still getting unintended (I hope) prejudice like when the round up of the next FA cup ties are announced and three ties are picked out by the BBC news to mention, they don't mention the tie involving the highest placed club left in the competition. Interesting though that Hansen said, without reservation and almost as an aside that Spurs are a better team than Chelsea.
It kept crashing on my laptop last night, seems OK tonight
Although- unless I just can't find it, dear old Lawro's predictions seems to have disappeared, as have the other "quality" blogs of the Beebs phalanx of "knowledgeable" journos! Can't be a bad thing...
Colour and lay out are terrible though; the other day I tried perusing the new-look site whilst eating a scrambled egg for breakfast and spent the rest of the day feeling rather queasy! It was just overwhelming!
I'm not impressed by the change, but am having to get used to it.
The old one was much simpler and maybe I,m just thick, but this new look has just complicated things for me.
