No, not a reference to waxing treatment our bad-boy skipper might be considering. Rather, it's my own attempt to weigh up the arguments for and against finding a way to boot the turbulent Scouser out of our club. On the long side again, I'm afraid: http://thisismyengland.blogspot.co.uk/2012/05/bye-bye-barton.html
Sack for sure. For me it's not even about what he did to tevez. It's that kick at Aguero that says it all about his state of mind. For a club captain that is f***ing embarrassing. And in front of millions around the world. It goes against everything TF & Co are trying to build at the club. I have no doubt team harmony and performances will improve without him, like they have at all the clubs he's left.
Really good blog TIME. I think you are right that it's the tweets that bring the club into disrepute. Just hope this is over with quickly.
Thank you TIME for an explaining and superbly balanced piece. And for helping me finally make my mind up on the matter. It's the way I've seen it all along, but I think the pragmatic in me thought of the fact that we most likely can't get rid and that we're instead stuck that had me hesitating. By the way, great fonts
Barton proved at City that he thinks he is more important than his team. ESPN described it as ''10 heroes and Joey Barton''. Says it all really
Another great article T.I.M.E. Just a slight aside, do the FA not question the officials on how they claim to have seen the Barton elbow, yet not the Tevez punch but less than a second before? If you are facing charges of this nature, surely the defendant must be able to have a defence lawyer to cross exam the prosecutions witnesses? Especially with the severe nature of the penalties imposed. Surely Barton's elbow on Tevez comes down to mitigating circumstances due to Tevez throwing the first punch. Without that, the whole sorry incident would not of occured. I also notice that this is all about Barton. Not one mention of Tevez and his actions anywhere.
I was expecting someone to bite, but not you...!!! I had to think about it and wondered if anyone else did !! sorry Very good article and although i dont agre wit it all; well worth the read and conclusion was spot on!
Just heard on 5Live that QPR were the most fouled team in the league and Barton the most fouled player in QPR and the entire league. If that is true the FA should have taken it into consideration.
Irrespective of contractural obligations etc, Barton isn't a good enough player to be fighting over. He's no Tevez, a guy that did wrong but proved his worth to the team - Barton has no worth to the team, either as a captain (to which he's a disgrace) or as a team player (ditto). We need to find a way to get rid of him.
The sad thing is if we will probably have to pay him a large sum of money to cut his contract short . We can't sell him as no one will want him. This bugs me so much , if i were to run up to someone in my office and kick them , then go to head but someone else i would be probably sacked on the spot . We will have to pay to get rid of this guy. Also this is all we are going to hear about over the summer , as a supporter i hate all this negative press , this and the Anton case is all you will read about for QPR, time to switch off for a while i think.
thats right rangerw9 it will be him over the summer & will overshadow other things going on like transfers etc, there's always something happening at rangers same in briatore range we was never out of the spotlight, hope there will be a time when they have nothing to shout about & things run smoothly, so the quicker he's out & the team & management might settle down.
Let him serve his ban, strip him of the captaincy and lets all get on with our lives. We cant sell him or really sack him so get in some replacements and let him fight for his place when he returns. If he comes back and plays brilliant great, if only average or poor sell him in Jan or next summer.
Sack him, someone has to show some proper leadership. If he challenges the decision and loses it will shift the balance of power from the players to the clubs at long last. If he wins his appeal then we all go to hell in a handcart...
Have tried to have an open view when it comes to JB; but I'm afraid he is not for this club any more IMHO. He has let the club down and his conduct has been at the extreme end of misconduct. Time to terminate his contract and move on to find a replacement for his role in the middle who will play for the team and club. Sorry.. but enough is enough. Time to go our separate ways.
