For me last season it was between Mackie and Hill. Some may say SWP for this season which would be a real surprise for me. I am going to go with Nelsen. I think he is under-rated by a lot on here.
I reckon Diakite will get the big plaudits this season. Not that it will be a surprise for us, but he's come in under so many people's radar that he will be talked about constantly. I hope that Taarabt surprises us a lot more than he did last season.
I think you could be right with Nelsen, maybe AJ could become a hero, getting a lot of 20 mins here and there and scoring winners. Would like one of our 'kids' to break into the squad and become a regular , proper suprise everyone.
By the end of this season, I predict we will be taking for granted that Cisse is a great and regular goalscorer....SWP will become more and more influential...until he breaks a leg in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.....did I say i wanted us not to play in the 3rd round this year...Could we ask to go straight to the 4th round...to many BAD BAD injuries in the 3rd round
If Nelsen can avoid injury which at 34 is probably unlikely then that would be a surprise and so I would agree. If we're saying surprise as in I didn't know he had it in him then we can hardly include Taarabt in that category,we know he can but will he? Likewise Hoilett. I would love it if Cisse can avoid reds and if Green can avoid howlers.
Joey Barton when he comes back.........all the goody-goodies hate him and I'd love him to stick two fingers up at them and put in some great performances.
Shaun Derry. With Barton gone he will continue to get games and along with Diakite he will provide much needed backbone to our midfield.
As said above, Diakite will be the surprise for people outside of QPR, but not for us. Likewise with SWP, he might not be a surprise for people that didn't follow us very closely last season but will be a big one for us for instance. I have three that I feel will be a positive surprise package for us this season. 1)SWP. I've had a gut feeling about this since the end af last season, now that he's backed it up with a good pre-season that must have given him some much needed confidence I feel he'll finally come good. VERY good. 2) Robert Green. He's not very appreciated on here, not that he's done anything for us yet to deserve it either. But imo we will soon see what I means to have a top top keeper at the back. Something we've not had since the early to mid nineties. The most important position in a team imo is sorted, and that is not any discredit to Paddy. 3)Shaun Derry. Will play a lot more in the start than people believe, now with Barton suspended and Faurlin some way off match fitness. And with even better team mates around him than last year will look class.
QPR star makes discipline promise “I’ll just do the goals this time,” Cisse said. http://www.london24.com/sport/qpr/qpr_star_makes_discipline_promise_1_1474902
If Derry gets lots of game time we will struggle again this season. If we are to progress and move up the table the likes of Derry can not be stalwarts. He simply isn't good enough at this level. Good character in dressing room etc, bit part player this year.
Max Ehmer, if we don't buy anymore cb's or cm's he may get given a chance from the bench. Good solid physical player...
Think it will be Hogan has been look really good in his new role along side Park. think he will surprise a few people
Ki Sung-Yeung. He'll sign, but have to play every match in uniform, with a back pack and carrying an AK 47. That's one way to make defenders back off.
