All the talk in the media and beyond is getting quite dull and comes from an ill informed position. Andy Gray on talksport actually spoke with some sense earlier on and it was refreshing to hear. There was real context behind what he was saying and supported by fact unlike so much lazy journalism. We need to look at those facts which he kindly pointed out - Firstly we have let 15 players go which is rarely reported. That massively reduces the wage bill and according to TF tweets it is lower than last year now. If you let that many go you need to bring people in. We have brought in a mixture of youth (Diakite, Hoillett, Fabio Taarabt extension) and premiership experience (Nelson, Park, Zamora, Johnson etc). You need both aspects to survive and progress. The experience will help develop the youth as we go forward. Cesar is a top keeper if we get him. Gray was speechless that we could attract such class from Milan but gave credit where due. To have Cesar and Green fighting for No1 will be fantastic. We have a net spend of 1.5million! Hardly splashing the cash which is so often banded around. Most importantly is that those that are coming in are better quality than those they replace. Undoubtedly so, so we are improving! TF tweeted - You know something I don't. Wages are less than last year 15 players already left. And we have spent a net of 1.5 million this year. RT @fuzz62: Does anyone else think the spending of #qpr and @tonyfernandes is worse than that of #pompey? 18500 capacity .. Yet big money bids and wages Frankly when you look at it like that we should be applauded for great business. Were on the up and those that keep questioning it need to look at the facts! All along the club have been transparent about being active in the market and repeatedly said about other targets. Things take time and not everyone will come off. It's not panic it's moving from option 1 to 2 etc. Let's calm down and let our appointed experts get on with pushing this club in the right direction. Exciting times ahead!!
Totally agree, now we just need the players who have come in to start repaying the confidence that's been put in them and justifying their wage packet on the pitch. Onwards and upwards, you Rssssssssssss
Wouldn't know how to get it mate. From memory it was just after 11 this morning if that helps. Not normally a fan of his but he gave a really balanced view and spoke about other scenarios where similar has happened.
cancel that try this from a quick look at the site! 8min 40 seconds into the 1100-1130 section. (wow technology!) http://www.talksport.co.uk/radio/listen-again/episode/87582
Old article, but some of the nosey ****s from other clubs might like a look! ================================================== Big-spending QPR would cope financially if they are unable to stay in the Premier League this season, Amit Bhatia has insisted. The Tony Fernandes-led takeover at Loftus Road resulted in significant investment in new players before the transfer deadline â and added to the clubâs already large wage bill. With the likes of Joey Barton and Shaun Wright-Phillips having made an immediate impact â as demonstrated in Saturdayâs 3-0 win at Wolves â Rangers now appear capable of comfortably avoiding the drop. But QPR Holdings vice-chairman Bhatia, who describes the club as âdebt freeâ, says the new-look regime first discussed what would happen in the event of relegation before deciding to spend. âThe signings weâve made mean we have every chance of staying up but of course we had to think about the alternative in case that did not happen,â Bhatia told West London Sport. âFor example, in some cases we have relegation clauses in the playersâ contracts. In others we were not able to do so but Iâve spoken to Tony about this and weâre both happy.â QPRâs accounts showed heavy annual losses throughout Flavio Briatore and Bernie Ecclestoneâs four years as co-owners, during which a number of directorsâ loans financed spending on and off the pitch. An even worse situation developed during the Chris Wright era, when similar funding failed to deliver success and Rangers ended up in administration with Wright as their main creditor. Bhatia says there is no question of a similar scenario developing under the current owners. He said: âLetâs be clear, previously directors provided loans and those debts no longer exist. They have been wiped out. In fact I would go so far as to describe the club as being debt free. âCash is now being provided by the owners with no burden being placed upon the club and we felt that was the best way. âThe main thing is that weâve brought stability to QPR, which was badly needed. It gives us a chance to achieve what we all want for the club.â http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/qpr-would-cope-with-relegation-bhatia
What a lot of the press forget is we were fighting relegation from the championship 3 years ago and survived by the skin of our teeth. 2 years later at least 1/2 of that same squad were fighting relegation from the premiership!! Where as teams like reading and Swansea had 3-4 years of consistently being in the play offs with quality players. So it's pretty obvious that to stay in this league and win games, we were going to need a high turnover of players. And that's not including 3 different managers who all have their own ideas of who they want to buy!!!
From the MH press conference this afternoon MH - There seems to be a perception about us in the press. We've done some good business so far to improve the squad. #QPR MH - The deal for Dawson isn't where I'd hoped it would be, but there's still time to go before the window closes. Issue with personal terms MH - There's a lot of speculation and jumping the gun by certain people. We'll continue to focus on what we are trying to do #QPR MH - It was always my intention to bring in two goalkeepers and there's a few options available to us. #QPR MH - We're striving to increase the top-end quality within the squad. There's work to be done. Maybe a few more comings and goings #QPR MH - If we can do the work we want to do in this window I can't see us being as active again in the January window #QPR MH - The Joey interest from Marseille is on-going. There's also been interest in a number of other players, including DJ #QPR MH - There's a lot converstions going on at the moment. There's a lot of options available to us. Everything we do is planned here. #QPR MH - If we can conclude a couple of more deals, then all well and good. But there's nothing knee-jerk about what we're doing. #QPR MH - Hopefully we'll have done our business by deadline day, but if we haven't we'll be part of that process once again. #QPR All sounds pretty sensible to me!
Good spot and nice post 74 nice to have some perspective, some people need to give these guys a lot more credit. TF and Co have done well by us and been sensible in their approach changing the things that need to be, this has not changed because we took a beating at the weekend. MH - Looking at his record has never spent recklessly even when the money was available at Citeh and has always managed to get the best out of players, this has not change because we took a beating at the weekend. All will come good.
Great thread. We seem to be constantly criticised by certain fans and some media outlets really dont help at all. Yes we have been the busiest club, but the majority of signings have been frees this summer.
