If and I do say if, the clause is £7 mill what do you think of him. His clause ran out on 31st July but Pardue seems to be saying he will go in Jan. Doesn't seem too expensive for what he has done at Newcastle. Now played out of position because of the other Cisse being central.

Nice to think we'll have a chance but his agent is after £100k a week and Newcastle will let him go to the highest bidder. Hot tip is Ba to Liverpool and Carroll to Newcastle with them paying a few million for getting him back...

Nice day dream but that's about it. Having said that we've gone from Paddy Kenny to Julio Cesar in a few short months!!!

Sadly the only reason he'd look at us is because we'd be the only club willing to over pay him. I'd rather steer clear.

Great striker, but we could do without another injury prone player!

    Latest on strikers from Ladbroke's

Quote - Hughes still wants further (striker) reinforcements and has identified John Guidetti as a possible option.

Guidetti has never really had a look in at Manchester City, but showed more than a glimpse of his capabilities when scoring 20 goals in 23 games on loan at Feyernoord last season, including three hat-tricks in four fixtures.

He is likely to be available on loan again in January and if QPR are still lingering around the relegation places at this point of the season, Guidetti may well arrive to try to fire them to safety. Unquote

The only concern is that the other clubs going for Guidetti are mainly championship teams. A loan deal wouldn't be bad for anybody I suppose but I am always sceptical when a player has scored goals in Holland i.e Alfonso Alves and Mateja Kezman?!

I say we should get Guidetti in now then! The boy's not 21 until next April, so he wouldn't even count as part of our squad, would he?? Sign him up, quick! <ok>

My Everton supporting mate said they looked at him before Newcastle but he failed his medical due to dodgy knees.

Great player but we could do without another long term absentee (especially on the wages that his agent will auction him off for).

Aren't our medicals just filling in a questionnaire without showing signs of arthritis?

Wasn't he somewhat injury prone whilst at West Ham? In this respect, he seems to have been fine at Newcastle though.

Ah right. Wasn't sure if the window still applies for players under 21, but I guess it does. So, it looks like the only way of adding to our striking options before January is to sign an under 21 free agent... Can't imagine many good strikers would meet those parametres though.

Yep spot on. We can loan out to lower leagues (or abroad I think) but Prem teams are unable to bring any players in on loan now.

There are plenty of youngsters out there that are U21 and probably half decent free transfers, but sadly are not good enough for a Prem squad. I would rather give one of our own youngsters a go, although we dont have many options on that front right now either.

I think I am right in thinking we cannot sign ANYONE no matter of their age or contract status.

We have filled the 25 man squad so have no places left, and I think I am right in thinking that u21 players have to be registered if the club 'wants' to play them in the PL. So no additions can be made to either the 25 man squad or the u21 squad.
