LEEDS UTD V TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS FA CUP Having already beaten Southampton and Everton this season in Cup competitions, could Spurs be the next big scalp. Lets not forget, it was only a few years ago that Beckford put the Mighty Whites past alex furgesons manure. Tottenham are in good form, with only one defeat in their past 14 matches after rescuing a draw against Manchester United last weekend, whereas the Leeds manager, Neil Warnock, is keeping his cards close to his chest regarding Becchio, as he has handed in a transfer request. It is likely that Warnock will choose two out of three between Diouff, Becchio and McCormack up front. With Drury injured, you'd expect White to be playing left back, Byram in his ever present right back slot, and a central defensive partnership of Lees alongside Peltier. The only other changes to the starting XI will probably see Ashdown replace Kenny between the sticks. The midfield is a little more difficult to predict. Everton have denied us permission to play Barkley. Personally I'd go with Tonge, Austin, Green and Norris. Doesn't give us a lot of width though. Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen has recovered from illness and is available for Tottenham’s FA Cup fourth-round tie at Leeds United.Centre-back William Gallas, who has been out with a calf injury, could also feature, but France defender Younes Kaboul (knee) is unavailable. Striker Emmanuel Adebayor is away on African Nations Cup duty with Togo and midfielder Sandro is out for the season with a knee injury. The South stand lower will be closed for this game on the advice of West Yorkshire police as Leeds will not pick up the tab for the extra Spurs fans.
Can't see anything other than a Spurs win today. Has the potential to be embarassing if Bale & Lennon really take it out on us. Might also be interesting to see Lennon's reaction if he scores. That said, much will depend on who AVB selects & who they also have on the bench. Of more concern will be Becchio. Will he start? If he does, will he put in a serious shift to help him in the shop window, or will he go through the motions trying to avoid an injury which would bugger up a transfer? Me, I think he'll put in a shift, score, & then give the crowd the type of wave that suggests he'll be leaving very shortly.
Villa were the 1st team this round to fail in their giant killing attempt - will Leeds be the last? I actually want Leeds to win this one - will be routing for all of the little teams in this round now
Get behind the team and you never know - If you generate half as much noise as we did yesterday it will be the loudest ER has EVER been
