Hello all,

So you are the trainer, where do you run the horses from your yard, you are David Pipe.

The horses in question are his novice chasers -

Goulanes
Our Father
Dynaste
His Excellency
Buddy Bolero
Knights Pass
No Secrets

Nice question but depends on the ground really.
I certainly think Goulanes needs the 4m trip.

But what if you are Daddy Martin as opposed to David?!? What happens then?!?

I’m more interested in where they pitch my old fave Zaynar at the Festival?!? A Chase or a Hurdle??? Although he hasn’t run this term I think I’m correct in saying he is qualified for the ‘Pertemps Final’ (was entered for a qualifier which was subsequently abandoned). The only race he has deffo been entered in, thus far, is the 'Ryanair' though.

I was in attendance to witness your fave get turned over in the Morebattle hurdle at 1/14. Following the race he drifted from 5/1 to 9/1 for the showpiece event on the first day of the Cheltenham festival and as such I swiftly went and backed him e/w for the race in my local betting shop. Very surprised he changed yards in the first place, I can only imagine connections wanted him moved because it would be unlike Mr Henderson to turf one out as good as Zaynar and it will be very interesting if he goes handicapping. A plot the elder Mr Pipe would be proud of perhaps?

LOL Oddy, what about all seven in the QMCC? With 6 of them you form a box around Sprinter Sacre and plod along, obviously hoping that Dynaste is good enough to do the business against all other rivals.

Does it really matter?

None of them have any chance at the Festival.

Ok then....Dynaste will have to participate, like GC,to get his bubble burst in the RSA.

Buddy (forgotten his other name already) will definitely have a chance in the 4m'er to beat a couple home...reasonable type.

BTW can anyone name the horse that was favourite for the 4M NH Chase and the 2m Irish Sweeps Hurdles (at that time the biggest H'cap hurdle in Europe) in the same year.

You are wrong about Buddy Bolero. I have backed him, so he will finish last.

I for one would go

Dynaste - Jewson
Goulanes - RSA (war of attrition that race)
Buddy Bolero - 4 miler (only because money is down)

The others find them a handicap if you can, and don't throw Zaynar over fences, he is a monkey and should be at Longleat rather than Cheltenham.

Only kidding...really like Buddy Bolero but he would be my RSA horse...can't have Dynaste at the current price...weak short runner...all too redolent of GC.

Goulanes is much too inexperienced for a Champioship event after one run imo...nothing in his back catalogue to suggest he's a superstar that can bridge that inexperience.

Thats the great thing about the Festival for me...waiting to be proved wrong!!

Where is the staying novice who looks a serious threat to Dynaste, whether he goes for the Jewson or the RSA? I don't see one, so I'd back him in either.

His Excellency would be interesting if he turned up in the Grand Annual at a decent price.

Has disappointingly not been put in the ‘Pertemps Final’ but now has, I note, been given an entry in the ‘Byrne Group Handicap Chase’ (to go with his one in the ‘Ryanair’).

The Pipe’s have 4 other options in the Byrne Group race though and where Zaynar stands in the old pecking order I have absolutely no idea. I share your concerns re his jumping but if he got into a nice rhythm he could certainly exploit a mark of just 146. Ladbrokes are going 25/1 about him for this race.
