worked for JJB about 17 years ago, I was only 15 and Saturday staff. He was at our branch for the day as he liked to show his face around stores. We were short staffed and I was with customers all day none stop. The place was a bomb site and he kicked off with me in front of customers about the state of the place. I was really shocked and embarrassed. the only adult who'd ever raised their voice to me was me dad and teachers.

The bloke's a bully who picks on kids if he's having a bad day.

and the moral of the **** story from a 15 teen year old snotty nosed kid is, if you ever get relegated i will bring it to every bodies attention how you acted and i will never forget how hurt i was, pity anybody who upsets you now you are all grown up . sad

Trust me he's not the first rich prick to treat his staff that way.

Whelan does come across as a complete arsehole and only an egomaniac would name the stadium after himself.

 

Had an ex girlfriend who worked for Duncan Bannatyne and told me similar tales. Used to like shouting and humiliating his workforce in front of others for maximum effect. Think it helps to be a bit of **** in big business though.
