Blackburn Rovers – Watford Ewood Park, Blackburn - saturday 28. september kl.15.00 The Hornets travel north possibly without Ãscar Garcia for the third match after he went to hospital, the Observer reports he is attending training. Watford have a poor return from matches in Lancashire and are seeking to return with points from two matches consecutively in the county for a long time. Blackburn Rovers Blackburn arrive at this match with three wins and defeats in the last six wth two wins and a defeat at home and one win and two defeats traveling. The winner of five of these matches has scored three and all teams have scored in this sequence, except Fulham, who Rovers beat 0:1 in London. Blackburns other wins were against Wigan Athletic and Bournemouth. Regular goalkeeper Paul Robinson is unavailable because of injury but the goalkeeper borrowed from Fulham, Ryan Tunnicliffe, is now able to play. Jason Steele the stand in goalkeeper for the win last weekend may keep that position. Tommy Spurr (groin), Jason Lowe (ankle), Chris Brown (knee) and David Dunn (knee) are still on the injured list. Outfield players Lee Williamson and Tom Cainey, both took knocks at Fulham may be included if regarded fit enough. Watford Watford’s last six matches have produced three wins also , but one draw and two defeats, at Charlton and in the League Cup when Doncaster Rovers returned to Yorkshire with a win. Leage wins were against Leeds United Huddersfield Town and Blackpool with a draw last week with Bournemouth. Aside from the missing coach Watford have three players with injury problems Troy Deeney, Keith Andrews and Gabriel Tamaş, even if Gabriels performances indicate the team may be better without him. Uchi Ikpeazu as a possible is out with a long term injury but Bernard Mensah could be available. Lloyd Doyley, who played with the youths in midweek, could also feature maintaining his record of playing for the last nine managers and coaches. Gabriele Angella is now fit again after his foot injury. History More recently the only games of value between the two opponents were the play-off matches when Watford did well to draw in Blackburn only to lose out on away goals in a 1:1 at Vicarage Road, when Rovers to an early lead and then defended resolutely to gain a draw. With this in thought the two companies have met only a few times and Blackburn have the advantage on their own field with eight league wins to the visitors four, with four drawn. The best performances both produced seven goals. Blackburn in 1992-3 won 6:1 and in 2000-01 the visitor triumphed 3:4
Given our record in Lancashire, the performance last week and Jordan Rhodes has started the season well, I think we'll struggle to get anything from this game.
Probably lose 1-0 with Rhodes scoring. They are a decent side now - much better than the 2 previous times we've played them
No Deeney, no Garcia. We need the team to start playing well, we are enough games in now to expect players to know eachother. Not sure what to expect from this one, we need everyone to put a shift in though. Thanks for the thread AK!
We also need the ref to put in a shift as well and not bow down to incessant Lancastrian bias and bigotry from the stands.
If we play like we did last game, we will be facing a regaurd action for much of the game and I can't really see us scoring many so I sadly go for 3-1 defeat.
It's all going to click, the guys are going to blend like a swiss watch surging forward with precise passing and clinical finishing, 5-0 the orns.... good wine last night...
We rarely get anything in either Blackburn or Lancashire, but I do remember HH scoring against them when a cross hit one of their defenders and the ball ricocheted onto HH's head, who was looking the other way, and into the net. I'm so sure we will lose that I won't get up for this one, especially as our clocks go forward tonight.
maybe our defence will be a bit stronger this week? so no early penalty or sending off ! 2-1 to the 'orns.
Steve Harrison & Deeney with Jon Marks. Troy kicking every ball, talking over JM and it's great- like sitting next to your mate at the ground.
