Been impressed with Forster considering his Newcastles third/fourth choice keeper with little experience but he still gives me this feeling every match he is going to make an error that could cost us a goal! Great shot stopper but his kicking and some of his decision making are questionable. If he could be snapped up at a reasonable price in the summer I'd be happy to keep him, no doubt in a few years he will become a great keeper if he keeps progressing, but having been in great form for us Newcastle could demand a hefty price to sell. Does anybody know if a fee was agreed within the loan deal? We have been linked with Coventry keeper Westwood for a few years now and he is out of contract in the summer so surprised we have not sorted out adeal for him as we've been so good at doing in recent years.........possibly a sign that Forster will be retained for next season? Would not be comfortable with being left with Zaluska again like the start of this season after not securing our targets last summer. Hope Lenny has learnt from last year and the minor error in January over the central defence and got it all in order.
I don't think a deal was done regarding signing him when his loan deal was up. I think it's simply a loan deal with him going back to Newcastle.
Its more about whats in front of him, I think protection we have given Foster since the turn of the year (except Wednesday with Gelnda) has been excellent and that is the main reason he's looked so good. I'd be looking elsewhere for a permanent replacement he will be overpriced (premiership clubs and all that) and is not at a standard I consider good enough (often referred to as Celtic Class).
Tend to agree Thomas. Think he would be a great investment though. With the lack of English keepers about his price could go sky high in a few years. And I do think he could become a great keeper, he's improved so much this season alone. But agree if we want to improve next term we need a stronger all round keeper.
We should take Westwood on a free....but as number 2. He's decent but not great. Has potential but im just not sold on him. As for a number one well i reckon we should go all out for Given. City will not want to sell to anyone in top 5 or 6 of England, he's not played regularly for over a year and will be wanting out. He'd be pricey but i think we could get him
Good shout on Given, can't see Westwood coming as number 2 though - think he is one of those keepers who you don't really notice in games because he rarely makes a mistake which shows overall he's a decent keeper.
