Italian cyber-police hit by hackers The Network of the Italian CNAIPIC, a cybercrime unit which oversees Italy's critical IT infrastructure, has allegedly had 8GB of files stolen by hackers. The stolen information includes data about government offices such as Australia's Ministry of Defence and the US Department of Agriculture and private firms such as Gazprom and Exxon Mobil, as well as images revealing the management structure of CNAIPIC. The files have now started to be publicly released by the hacker group, known as "Anonymous". The first of the confidential stolen files, which Anonymous claims were taken from the evidence server of CNAIPIC, have been linked to on the Pastebin website. The attack on the National Computer Crime Centre for Critical Infrastructure Protection, or CNAIPIC, is thought to be in retaliation for the arrests of Italian members of Anonymous in early July. CNAIPIC has yet to comment regarding the attack and stolen files
