Yorkie got me thinking earlier about what the odds would be on City staying up and 1p5wich getting promoted. I had to have a look and see after he assumed the bookies would fancy 1p5wich more than us. These are the results, and what fantastic reading they are. http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/premier-league/to-stay-up - odds on Norwich staying up http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/championship/promotion - odds on Ipswich gaining promotion
Indeed they are Carra - Norwich second favourites for relegation and Town 6th favourites for promotion. We'll take that very gladly thank you.
Really? Thanks for pointing that out I hadn't noticed. We will be thrilled with 6 place and if Norwich come straight back down that would put the icing on the cake. If we actually got promoted too then I'm not sure a budgie would ever show his face on this board again
Where did you get you finishing 6th according the bookies? I get you being 8th favourites along with about 6 other teams. West Ham, Leicester, Forest, Birmingham, Reading, M'Boro and Cardiff all have shorter odds than you by at least one bookie.
With all respect to Ipswich Town, I really don't think their squad has improved since last season, in fact it maybe has even gotten worse, however if Jewell had been in charge all season (A similar situation to Liverpool) then I dare say they would of finished higher then they did, but I would say their chances of promotion are very, very slim. I would say our chances of relegation are very high, but it doesn't bother me and you can't criticise us even if we get 0 points because at least we actually got to the Premier League which is more than you can say!
To be perfectly honest Carra 'at least one bookie' doesn't really mean a lot. I scanned it I didn't go looking at every detail.
No I really wouldn't Carra. What really matters is that everything is clicking into place for Town bit by bit. We'll keep an eye on your fortunes of course and we'll see what happens.
I'm sure you have differing opinions about your team when talking to us, than when you talk to your own fans - I know JWM does.
Not if you're clever Max - I dare say that the majority of footballing bets are placed with hearts and not minds. Betting on a 3-3 draw for example, which is normally 50-1, well the odds of it actually happening in a randomly selected game are actually more like 1500-1. At the same time though you could put your house on Villa to stay up and you'd pretty safely get a few grand back.
No and no of course he doesn't. Early on in the summer I was worried because we were letting a lot of players go - we had no option because of the mess Roy Keane had left the contracts in - but we're definitely way ahead of last season now and don't forget that with a quality keeper also comes quality organisation of the defence.
Jesus, you are pinning all your hopes on one player, that just happens to be a keeper, and a keeper that could leave at 24 hours notice. He really isn't going to make a defence that is more **** than last season all of a sudden the tightest defence in the league. If he can do that, he would not be on loan at 1p5wich.
