Leeds offer Howson new contract, it contains a wage equal to that to which any player could receive in the Championship and little else, except he can be captain of the club. Now, Howson's agent has taken the offer to Howson and we now await his response. It doesn't take a genius to know what the likelihood of the contract offer being turned down is, so let's get the Leeds United strategy in place. a) Offer "pish" contract to player b) Wait for ages for a response c) State to player that we will not up anything d) Tell the player he is staying until the end of the contract e) Inform Leeds fans that we tried everything to keep him, but that he wanted to go. f) Let the player leave the club g) Bring in a free replacement for a fraction of the previous wage and use the savings on the required shops and hotel on the east stand. May not be totally correct, but I doubt it will be far off what will happen.
He'll sign a new contract, for 3 reasons: 1. He's a key player for the club. This means he'll be offered a wage that is on the up end of our budget. My example for this is Becchio, who was a key player and got one of the top wages at the club. It's a different situation to Schmeichel (on high wages already, would have been hard to re-sign), Johnson/Kilkenny (first team regulars but not rated as deserving a top wage at the club) and Gradel (rumours of his wage demands being more than we could have offered). 2. Last season was the first time he could actually say he was a key player and would be playing every game. He'll want to prove this season that he can continue that. 3. He's the captain. For a Leeds fan who came through the academy and has now become the youngest captain since Bremner, it's hardly something he's going to want to give up.
so he's been offered £55k a week then same as nolan at west spam equal to what any player could receive in the championship dont make me laaaaaarrrrrrrfffff
I'm sorry Best Fans, you have given good reasons as to why Howson 'should' sign a new contract at Leeds United, unfortunately that's not how professional footballers work now, it is 100% about money and Leeds don't pay the top wages in the Championship, never mind the EPL clubs that will come in for him. Unless the money is right, Howson will move on.
I think you're totally wrong on this one Boab. I'm pretty confident he'll sign a new contract, BF is spot on. Howson will go nowhere. Only time will tell.
howson wouldn't leave his boyhood dreamclub. I am literally 100% confident and to show my confidence, i will send 100 pounds to evey single person on this thread if he doesnt resign before his contract is up
J'sus, what a bet, YOU ARE ON. Can you state clearly how you will pay everybody? I'll keep this post until the end of the season (Howson's contract ends) or January transfer window. I admire your confidence but in reality, footballers are not connected to clubs, they are connected to money and the agents who control them.
