Sadly not here folks, West Ham announce reductions with new TV deal and move to Olympic stadium of course 2016/2017. Let's hope more premier league clubs take note. Love the banner in the PIC we need one of those http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/32399291
It's about time that Premier League clubs realised that the only place that the TV money does not go, is to those supporters who actually go to matches. I am not saying that under £300 for an adult should be the norm, but £500 is enough.
So if we get handed a new stadium with an extra 20k seats, yeah, I'd agree. If that place isn't full it's going to look frigging awful. I bet the prices rise the year after too. How much will that place actually cost them? How close to actual West Ham is it BTW? Not really a great example of what to emulate unless you just cherry pick the good sounding bits and ignore the rest imo.
It wouldn't work for us because we don't have the fan base. West Ham do, they sell out every game at extortionate prices, this will work for them, they have the ability to fill the stadium and are even more likely to with this price structure.
The overall scenario may not be, but the basic premise of pricing to fill the stadium should be the same for us.
I don't know the area that well. In London terms 3 miles is quite a lot. Is the new stadium still in an area which could be called West Ham? I'm not trolling BTW, I'm genuinely curious. Didn't a couple of clubs lay claim to it? Isn't there a proper club closer?
Leyton Orient is only 2.5 Miles. But they are a struggling L1 team, who will in no way fill it. I also doubt they could afford 2mil rent.
Upton Park and The Olympic Stadium are in the same borough (Newham). Leyton Orient is not part of Newham, so despite being geographically closer to the Olympic Stadium they have less claim to it than West Ham.
West Ham's ground is actually in Upton Park, which is part of the borough of Newham, as is Stratford where the Olympic Stadium is situated, so though it's not exactly next door, it's still in the same borough.
Aha OK cheers. For some reason I was thinking I'd read something about Charlton but West Ham using it seems reasonably legit on balance. I'll be impressed if they do fill it every game and look forward to seeing them also halve the cost of away fans tickets too.
Charlton's over twice as far away and on the other side of the river. Premier League rules dictate that West Ham must charge away fans the same amount as the home fans, so as long as their matchday tickets are in line with their season ticket prices, they will also be reduced.
