Over £4m in the first season, loans in the second season would have been decent fees and wages. I can't imagine Koren's wages were pittance either...
CM , the same season we invested in Chester , Fryatt and that rugged looking black striker who's name I always forget , vin rouge moment , and maybe others in the mid season transfer window . Not happy with you now as I appear to be defending the allams .
At the time that was pretty decent going, 7 years ago the fees were nowhere near what they are now. The likes of Burton Albion spend today what we spent in that time. Perhaps heavy is the wrong adjective, but certainly our owners put in a decent wedge to get our players in.
Not mentioned Guzan or Mannone either. Lot of failed PL players out in 2010, needed a lot of replacements. Almost a revolving door at times.
Chazz, i'm not in the know. I've asked this bloke for info before but he'd never say owt, that's why I was surprised when he offered this info up. Like I said in my original post, I don't know if it's true or not so we'll have to wait and see.
Conveniently forgetting Fryatt and McLean who were big investments at the time. Koren was also a big signing in terms of wages. (Didn't read the posts above)
Considering we probably need 8-10 new players, depending on who goes/stays £50 million might be just about right. Total back 4 minimum even as cover. That elusive striker & cover. Midfield cover, depends if Slutsky plays with wingers, if so 1-2 wingers not including cover.
We need 8-10 new players at the minute just to replace the loanees and give us some depth for a 46 game slog. By the time, Dawson, Maguire, Robertson, Huddlestone, Clucas, Hernandez and Grosiki likely leave, we'll need more like 15
It's going to be a massive rebuilding job and I don't think many realise how difficult it's going to be. Add Elmo and Evandro to potential departures too and you could also add a couple of keeper
