On second thoughts he'd probably have to Google Roberts to find out what a great servant he was to spurs
It is all a bit peculiar. I'd say that Aurier is the better player overall, but as you say - it seems strange that Levy let alone Poch would even consider signing someone with that much baggage. Perhaps the 3rd party ownership complications made Levy look at Pereira and break out in his Moutinho rash?
Wouldn't say he's the biggest of lads (at least not yet) but he's a tricky bastard with a sweet left peg, scored a worldy of a goal last year for the u-15s where he ran through about 5 players before slotting it past the keeper. Pretty sure he's already featured for the u-18s and represented England u17s too, think he actually scored twice for them recently IIRC. Won a player of the tournament prize at the start of the year as well. Serious talent, naturally got a long way to go as he's incredibly young but he's showing all the signs of a very gifted footballer in the making. I like Jack Roles, too. Had a great season last year and notched up a shed load of goals from midfield. EDIT: Madueke's goal:
Jack Roles is a strange one, no one raves about him, you never see him training with the first team squad but his stats are fantastic and he always seems to score or create in the youth set up. He is a tall lad but he has deceptive skill, you write him off then bang he hits one in the top corner.
Simon Jordan mouthing off to anyone that will listen that Ryan Sessegnon should stay put. Just a reminder, this is the same Simon Jordan who said he'd secured Palace's future by purchasing the freehold to Selhurst Park...only for it to soon emerge that he didn't as the portfolio was actually in the hands of Alan Sugar crony and sweaty spiv in an ill-fitting suit from The Apprentice's interview stage Paul Kemsley.
He always hated us. Remember him slating us when Chelsea tapped up Frank Arnesen (our DoF) back in 2006. We got £6m for him leaving us and a deal tgat they could not bid for any of our staff or players for 5 years or we would complain to the premier league about them. They were already in deep **** cos of tapping Ashley Cole the previous year. Jordan (the multi millionaire capitalist) claimed that spurs were outrageous for looking out for themselves...presumably he objected to the spurs owners acting like... ummm...multi millionaire capitalists unlike errr...himself.
Will this just leads to a whole bunch of new questions... Season-long loan with an option to buy, which certainly puts paid to the idea that Barca had already agreed to sign him for next summer.
You mean the time he turned down a £2m offer for a player who was out of contract, only to get £700k at the tribunal? Can't think who could possibly have been at fault for that one...
If Aurier is banned from entering the UK because of his conviction, where are Spurs planning to play home matches? Stade de France?
His appeal against either the sentence or the conviction (I assume the former) was heard on the 7th. The verdict is apparently known but not public, so it seems like he's not going to jail and he'll be able to get clearance. Seems a bit odd that he doesn't hold a French passport, as he's been in the country for over a decade. Not sure if that would've helped him, to be honest, but you'd have thought it would.
Marcos Alonso was fined 2 days wages after he caused the death of a 19 year old passenger in his car by drink driving and whilst travelling at more than double the speed limit on a wet road, they have allowed him into the country so you would have thought there should not be a problem with Aurier.
Bid supposedly lodged for that Keita Balde guy. Don't know anything about him other than that he's supposedly a pacey and skilful winger. Switching from French wingers to Spanish-born Senagalese ones now it seems.
Some suggestion that he's on his way to Juve and we're being used to drag some more money out of them. Shame, if it's true as he seems to have a lot of the qualities that we're looking for. The Mirror are suggesting that we've bid £3m for Jadon Sancho, the kid from Citeh who is highly rated and smart enough to want out. Again, it's jam tomorrow but it would be a lot better than marmite or Marko Arnautovic
Yeah saw the Sancho stuff. He apparently turned down £30k a week from City, so not sure if he's looking for more dough or if he's just not bothered about the money right now and purely wants an opportunity in the first team which he can't see there, if the latter, he sounds like the type of lad I'd want here, especially if he's as talented as reports say he is.
I agree. And several of us know the perfect means to ensure this : purchase followed by immediate loan-back to Fulham.
Hmm, has a bit of the Fryers about this IMHO. Did Spurs pay Fryers higher wages than Man Utd were offering ??
Well we've had no joy with the French ones, so it's about time we implemented a new strategy! Looks like GKN could be going on loan to Hellas Verona with an option to buy. - very similar scenario to that of N'Jie. We need to get a move on with our incomings though, even if our main targets don't pan out. We can't be in a position where we're looking at other players right at the end of the window, because we left plan A too late. Completing more than 1 deal on deadline day would be a monumental task.
