A new Mod

Hi all

It has been brought to my attention that while i was on holiday there were some stressy moments on the board that because i was away, couldn't be dealt with. I think perhaps it would be a good idea to have a second mod, even if just for the times i'm not around (though help is always welcome!) so that things can be sorted much faster than waiting for me to stop sunning myself. Weirdly, this is such a well behaved board, it's amazing that these things manage to happen when i'm not here...timing!

Anyway, any volunteers? I don't suppose many of you would like to take it on but please do consider it, it would really help the board members, as well as me.

Respect the Mod(s) but have no interest in doing it to be honest.

I am just going to comment on football things, that way I think less problems are incurred. However, it is good to have a diverse range of topics on the board.

Needs to be someone who can be reasonably impartial.... so not me.... but i will support anyone who is considering it.....

 

Maturity, or lack thereof, rules me out...

 

I think that we do need a second mod. It's difficult really because I can't volunteer anyone else for this against their will, but on the other hand, I don't think that I would be suitable because I am too active on the political threads for that. I can't argue and have mod powers at the same time.

 

I take it you won't be seconding me then?

I would happily return to being a Mod. I do not post on the political threads any more but only as I consider they have lost the variety of opinion they once had. I am in any event neither left nor right wing. Like most people on here I have had spats with one or two people but over a period of years that is inevitable. One thing I always made sure was that as a Mod I showed no favour to "friends or foes".
What I would like to do is to try to encourage back some of the people we have lost to the board over the years - we know from the RIP thread that they are still out there and if they could be persuaded to return our forum would become richer again.

I've been away for a while, and come back a little surprised that so many have left - which is a shame - but nice they poked their heads in on the RIP thread. Glad to see they are still checking in....

I think we do need to invite old members back and invite new members...... anybody up for this?

 

for people who tweet or are on facebook (other social media ?) it would be good if they could mention this board. The more people who contribute the more varied the opinions and the better the board.

 

I will contact all my mates at the Anarchist Federation and in the WRP so that we have more 'balanced' political debate.

I wouldn't know how to tweet Leo, and I don't use facebook. I think that we have lots of 'passive' users who, maybe, view a bit of the forum and then move on - we need to hook them. We need lots of varied threads which appeal to a wide spread of interests - even silly games. Also viewing other clubs forums and thinking 'would that work for us' ? The pub quiz thread came on here because I had already been using the one on the QPR board and thought that it would work for us as well.
