The club's owner has spoken of his sadness about Advocaat's decision - and his admiration that the Dutchman has not taken a financial settlement. Sunderland AFC chairman Ellis Short said: “I am truly saddened by Dick’s decision, but I respect him for his honesty and for doing what he feels is right for the club. "He is a man of integrity and a true football person. He was hugely respectful of the club in taking this decision and he acted 100% in our best interests. It is also testament to his character that he has forgone any kind of a financial settlement, something which is very unusual in football." Dick shown some class to walk away without any compo , Sunderland is a mess from top to bottom, any coach must be mad taking the job there
He was clearly doing it for the LOLZ not the money. That's an utter car crash of a club, more so than the Mags who are almost as laughable. Interesting reading on their forum on here too about how the fans at their games are thought of too. Sounds eerily familiar which is funny given how they're held up as a shining example of how to support a club.
There's no ****ing wonder Chazz, with the way the players don't seem to give a ****. Admittedly they put up a fair effort in the first half but then ****ed off to the pub in the second. I think it would make anybody want to cry.
Sunderland seem to expect too much in this day and age. They believe thay're a "big club", and they were in the past but in 2015 they need to survive in the PL and consolidate. It may sound unromantic and boring but that's the way it is. They'll end up with their NE derby in the Championship at this rate
Sunderland are ****. They have an unhealthy fixation with Steve Bruce. Their supporters clear the stands at first glance of defeat. They genuinely blame Bruce for everything. Advocaat's yellow.
Weren't they about 11th when they sacked bruce? That would seem like champions league qualification to them now
Oddschanger @Oddschanger Nigel Pearson has today been cut to 11/4 from 7/1 to be the next Sunderland manager.
