Floyd Ayité played the full 90 minutes as Togo began their Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a goalless draw against the Ivory Coast.

It was far from a classic on what was a poor pitch, and with no side able to make the breakthrough it became the fourth of five matches at the Gabon tournament to end in a stalemate. The Ivory Coast – the competition’s holders – shaded the play, with Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia going close, before Serge Aurier headed wide in the closing stages.

In the same group, Neeskens Kebano was an unused substitute as the Democratic Republic of Congo beat Morocco 1-0. Junior Kabananga’s strike was the difference between the sides, and Congo held on despite Lomalisa Mutambala’s red card to top Group C at the close of play.

Kabananga - what a superb surname! Straight out of a Bond film.

10 minutes in and Kebano has just scored to put DCR Congo 1-0 up against the Ivory Coast. Think they won there first game so a result here and Kebano will be staying a bit longer.

Togo lost 3-1 to Morocco and Congo drew 2-2 with the Ivory Coast. The current standings in Group C has Congo at the top with 4 points and Togo at the bottom with 1. The pair of them play on Tuesday night.

Looks very likely that Floyd Ayite will be back early. And thank goodness - boy could we have done with him yesterday.

Ah well, at least Ayite will be back shortly ... and he can score penalties, can't he?

Congo beat Togo 3-1 tonight. And of course congratulations to 'Copa' Kebano as his team qualify for the knockout stage.
