Looks like the council have rolled over. Well done to the council, now lets get that 3g done. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Airc...g-saved-Hull/story-26244003-detail/story.html A WRESTLING show scheduled to be held at the Airco Arena has been saved after Hull City Council agreed to move it to a temporary venue. The New Generation Wrestling show will now take place at Hull City Hall on Sunday, May 3, when all profits will go to the Life For a Kid charity. Meanwhile, sports clubs facing eviction from the arena, in Walton Street, will hold a protest tomorrow. Campaigners against plans to build a Hull City academy indoor football pitch will gather in Queen Victoria Square from 11am in a bid to force the council to stop the move. Protesters claim building the football pitch would breach the lease on the arena, which states it must be available for use by residents of Hull. A petition has so far gathered 4,800 signatures. Niccolas Irvin, who started the campaign, said: "The lease clearly states that the arena must be available for use by any residents of Hull. "The council should uphold the lease in the interests of the amateur sports clubs that use the venue." Kingston Panthers and the Hulls Angels Roller Dames, which do not have anywhere to hold their tournament in July, will be at the protest and urge people to support them at the protest. Jamie Potter, of the Hulls Angels Roller Dames, said: "We'd like people to come together to appeal to Hull City Council to take action so that we can continue to compete at the highest level in our home city."
Is that proper wrestling like my nan used to watch? Yes she waved her handbag at the bad uns. She'da been mortified by the WWE crap.
The council really should be doing something about it. Like the guy says, it's a breach of the lease, but Allam knows he can get away with it. The council are in a weak position but they have a duty to do something about this situation. The lease is worth nothing if they don't enforce it.
AIRCO's not the answer though we & PL / England need something A survey shows that the academies of the Premier League's current 20 clubs have produced just 57 first-team regulars over the past 10 years... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3016292/Stop-kidding-homegrown-stars.html please log in to view this image
Hull City Council have written to the Premier League asking them to delay the academy audit. They like writing pointless letters to the Premier League don't they?
Joking apart, all they've said so far is that they've spoken to City and they're waiting to see what the club manage to do to help those being evicted before making any further comment.
I had a quick squint, a cynic could be forgiven for thinking they don't see the publicity as an altogether bad thing. The replies have a couple of comments from people about their services.
Agreed, I shouldn't think they're too upset about all this, it's not really reflecting badly on them, at least not yet.
Have you seen the letter? Does it mention that they are seeking legal advice on whether the SMC is in breach of the lease? Depending on the contents Hull City's Category 2 application could be dead in the water.
Looks like the Council, the club and the local MPs have asked for the postponement. Although Angus Young's tweet is a bit ambiguous as it refers to a decision of the Premier League.
The audit goes ahead. Hull City Council would then have to say whether the indoor pitch breached their lease agreement. Given the publicity, they'd have to do a huge u-turn in the middle of an election to back the application. If the SMC and the Council are still in dispute the Premier League is likely to turn down the application. If the club have requested a postponement and its backed up by the Council and the local MPs I think it stands a good chance of being postponed.
The FA won't give a **** about a dispute between City and the Council, if the facilities meet the requirements, they'll pass it, if it doesn't, they won't.
Am I right in thinking that the FA originally said they would re audit in 16 months, Ehab kicked off and said he wanted it much sooner, resulting in the FA agreeing to his request? If so, it's a bit embarrassing having to ask for a postponement.
That's correct and Ehab definitely doesn't want a postponement. The FA won't care, they act for football clubs, they don't care what Hull City Council think.
